Various implementations include a wheelchair traction attachment device. The device includes a frame having an arcuately-shaped longitudinal axis, an inner surface, an outer surface opposite and spaced apart from the inner surface. The frame has a first edge extending between the inner and outer surfaces, and a second edge spaced apart from the first edge. At least a portion of the inner surface defines a channel. The device includes at least one first wheel-clip extending radially inwardly from the first edge of the frame relative to the arcuately-shaped longitudinal axis. The device includes at least one second wheel-clip extending radially inwardly from the second edge of the frame relative to the arcuately-shaped longitudinal axis. The device includes a traction portion disposed along at least a portion of the outer surface, the traction portion extending radially outwardly from the outer surface relative to the arcuately-shaped longitudinal axis.

SYSTEM TO ADJUST DRIVE OPERATION AND PERFORMANCE IN RESPONSE TO DETECTION OF A FRONT ADD-ON FOR A WHEELCHAIR

A wheelchair including a steering assembly configured to selectively attach to the wheelchair, the steering assembly including a steering member, a front wheel operably connected to the steering member, a frame assembly configured to carry the steering member and the front wheel, and a mounting assembly coupled to the frame assembly, and a drive assembly coupled to the wheelchair. The drive assembly is configured to operate in a first configuration in response to the steering assembly being detached from the wheelchair, and the drive assembly is configured to operate in a second configuration in response to the steering assembly being attached to the wheelchair.

SELF-ALIGNING COLLAPSIBLE FRONT ADD-ON FOR A WHEELCHAIR

An alignment system for a wheelchair based steering column includes a fork assembly configured to carry a front wheel, a bearing coupled to the fork assembly, a tube member that receives the bearing and a portion of the fork assembly, a cam defining sloped cam surface leading to a recess, the cam positioned in the tube member, a biasing member configured to apply a restoring force onto the cam, the biasing member positioned in the tube member, and a steering device coupled to the fork assembly. In response to applying a rotational force to the steering device, the fork assembly rotates, responsively rotating the front wheel and sliding the bearing along the cam surface away from the recess, the cam responsively linearly translates relative to the fork assembly overcoming the restoring force.

FRONT ADD-ON FOR A WHEELCHAIR

A steering system for a wheelchair includes a steering device configured to be engaged by a user, a front wheel operably connected to the steering device, and a frame assembly configured to carry the steering device and the front wheel. The frame assembly is configured to removably engage a mounting member of the wheelchair. A mounting assembly can be coupled to the frame assembly. The mounting assembly is configured to selectively couple to the mounting member of the wheelchair and selectively electrically connect to a motorized drive assembly coupled to the wheelchair.

SYSTEMS INCORPORATING A WHEELCHAIR WITH AN EXOSKELETON ASSEMBLY AND METHODS OF CONTROLLING THE SAME

Embodiments described herein are directed to a wheelchair system that includes a wheelchair and an exoskeleton. The wheelchair includes a frame, a pair of armrests coupled to the frame, and a control unit. The pair of armrests movable between an attached position and a detached position. When in the attached position, each one of the pair of armrests are coupled to the frame and when in the detached position, each one of the pair of armrests is removed from the frame. The exoskeleton is communicatively coupled to the control unit via a cable extending between the exoskeleton and the control unit. The exoskeleton being releasably coupled to at least a portion of the frame of the wheelchair. The wheelchair system is translatable between a wheelchair mode and an exoskeleton mode such that, when in the exoskeleton mode, the control unit provides electrical power and control signals to the exoskeleton.

Convertible wheelchair

A convertible wheelchair system, between a wheelchair configuration and an all-terrain configuration, is provided. Embodiments include a central frame aligned along a central longitudinal axis, the central frame having a front and back bar parallel to each other and orthogonal to the central longitudinal axis, paired side bars aligned with the central longitudinal axis, and paired wheel cages, aligned with the central longitudinal axis and attached to the front and back bars, each wheel cage supporting an axle and a wheel mounted thereon. The system further includes a forward beam alignable with the central longitudinal axis, configured to support a forward wheel, and reversibly attached to the front bar. The convertible wheelchair is in the all-terrain configuration when the forward beam is attached to the frame, and the wheelchair configuration when the forward beam is detached from the frame, the central frame thereby standing without the forward beam.
