Elevated height wheelchair

The present disclosure includes methods of operating a wheelchair configured to reposition an occupant between a lowered and a raised position. The wheelchair can include a frame, a seat moveable relative to the frame, a drive wheel, one or more pairs of arm assemblies, and one or more sensors. The arm assembly includes a wheel configured to move from a first spatial location when the wheelchair is operating on flat, level ground to a second spatial location that is different than the first spatial location. Arm limiters can selectively engage the arm assembly based on at least one of a seat position, position of the arm assembly, and surface conditions of ground surface. The arm limiters can limit the range of motion of the arm assembly and sometimes other operational aspects of the chair. The methods adjust the maximum operational speed of the wheelchair when the seat is in an elevated position based on sensor data relating to one or more of the arm limiter position and the position of the frame.

A pedal wheel accessory (2) and bracket (19) for attaching such a wheeled device to a wheelchair (1), the bracket having an elongated bar (20) having a top and bottom end with a connecting collar (7) at the top end for attachment to the post (6) of the wheeled device and a T-connector (8) at the bottom end of the elongated bar for attachment to a wheelchair, said T-connector having a crossbar (21) with clamps (9) at each end for attachment to bars (18) on the chassis of a wheelchair.

ADVANCED WHEELCHAIR
20230056464 · 2023-02-23 ·

An advanced manually propelled wheelchair (100) is described. The wheelchair (100) has a chassis (110). In certain examples this may be a single piece design. The wheelchair (100) may further have one or more of a load adjustment mechanism (150) and a power-assist mechanism. The load adjustment mechanism (150) is configured to adjust a position of a set of rear wheels (120) for the wheelchair (100) relative to a loading of the wheelchair (100). Load adjustment may be performed based on a sensed loading. The power-assist mechanism provides a powered torque to a set of front wheels (130) to help a user propel the wheelchair (100) or to stabilise the wheelchair (100) during use. The power-assist mechanism may be provided as a set of modular front wheel units.

Systems and methods for crowd navigation in support of collision avoidance for a motorized mobile system

A system and method for a motorized mobile chair using a plurality of sensors having a plurality of sensor types to detect a plurality of objects and generate sensor data about the detected objects, each of the detected objects being a person, the sensor data about the objects comprising a plurality of range measurements to the people and a plurality of bearing measurements to the people. The system has at least one processor to receive the sensor data about the people, group the detected people into a plurality of zones, determine a closest person in each zone, and generate one or more control signals to cause the motorized mobile chair to match a speed and a direction of the closest person in the zone corresponding to a direction of travel of the motorized mobile chair while at least approximately maintaining a selected space to the closest person in the zone corresponding to the direction of travel of the motorized mobile chair.

A mobility device (1) comprising: a main frame (3) having a central longitudinal axis which coincides with the median plane of the mobility device (1), an elongated body support member (13b) which has a central longitudinal axis (At) that is contained in a median plane of the mobility device (1), the body support member (13b) being pivotally connected to the main frame (3) via a medial pivot connection (17), and an elongated rotation transfer member (13c) rotatably connected to the body support member (13b), wherein the rotation transfer member (13b) has a central longitudinal axis (A2) which extends transversally relative to the central longitudinal axis (At) of the body support member (13b).

Mapping and data collection of in-building layout via mobility devices

A method includes receiving sensor data relating to an environment from a plurality of mobility deices, determining locations of one or more points of accessibility within the environment based on the sensor data, creating an environment map based on the sensor data, and transmitting the environment map to a mobility device. The environment map includes the one or more points of accessibility.
