Auxiliary drive device for a wheelchair
11576830 · 2023-02-14 · ·

An auxiliary drive device for a wheelchair has at least one electrically driven drive wheel and a coupling mechanism for coupling the auxiliary drive device to the wheelchair. The coupling mechanism includes a movable locking element which is movably supported in the coupling mechanism. The movable locking element can be in a locking position in which it causes locking in a positive-locking manner so that the auxiliary drive device is coupled to the wheelchair and, by operation of a handle, the locking element can be moved in a release position in which uncoupling of the auxiliary drive device from the wheelchair is possible.

ACTIVE STABILITY DEVICES AND SYSTEMS FOR MOBILE DEVICES

A system for use with a mobile device includes at least one sensor to sense a variable related to tilting of the mobile device and at least one activatable system in operative connection with the sensor. The at least one activatable system increases stability of the mobile device upon actuation/change in state thereof on the basis of data measured by the at least one sensor. A variable related to tilting includes variables that indicate concurrent, actual tilting as described herein as well as variables predictive of imminent tilting. Activatable systems hereof change state upon actuation or activation to increase stability of the mobile device by reducing, eliminating or preventing tilting.

A frame assembly for a wheelchair includes a first side member, and a first leg support member coupled to the first side member. The first leg support member includes a first curved portion and a second curved portion, the first curved portion oriented to curve in a first direction, the second curved portion oriented to curve in a second direction, and the first and second directions being different.

Wheelchair pressure ulcer risk management coaching system and methodology

A wheelchair system includes a wheelchair including a plurality of force sensors including at least three force sensors. A rigid seat pan is placed in contact with each the plurality of force sensors at a different position on the rigid seat pan so that the rigid seat pan does not contact the frame and forces on the rigid seat pan are transferred to the plurality of force sensors. Each of the plurality of force sensors is in communicative connection with a processor system. A memory system is in communicative connection and an interface system is in connection with the processor system and a user interface system in communicative connection with the processor system. Instructions stored on the memory system are executable by the processor system to determine a value of a variable related to a distribution of force on the rigid seat pan over time.

Anti-rollback braking system for wheelchairs

A wheelchair comprising a seat back, a seat bottom, a frame, two front wheel assemblies, two drive wheels, two wheelchair wheels, and an anti-rollback wheelchair braking system consisting of two braking units, each unit comprising a housing cylinder body cap, a housing cylinder body, a housing cylinder mounting assembly, a wheelchair mounting assembly, rotatable toggle clamp direction selection lever, an anti-rollback, one-way, brake assembly, and a toggle clamp assembly for engaging the said anti-rollback, one-way, brake assembly with a wheelchair wheel. A parking brake assembly may also be included. The invention may be manufactured and sold as a whole wheelchair assembly or a retrofit kit for standard wheelchairs.

Head support assembly and support unit

A support unit for a modular head support assembly having a right support post and a left support post, said support unit comprising: a support body; a right attachment element and a left attachment element configured for articulation with said right support post and said left support post, respectively, said right attachment element and said left attachment element being disposed at opposite sides of the support body; and an adjustment mechanism configured for selectively adjusting the position of the right attachment element and the left attachment element with respect to each other, at least from an extended position towards a retracted position.

WHEELCHAIR WHEEL

A wheelchair wheel which is rotatable around an axis of rotation includes: a hub, which can be connected to a wheel axle of a wheelchair frame; a wheel body which is arranged on the hub, forms a running surface of the wheelchair wheel and constitutes the connection between the running surface and the hub, the wheel body being composed of three wheel body segments, each wheel body segment having a rim profile and a tire portion arranged in the rim profile; three fastening devices which are independent of one another, each wheel body segment being releasably fastened to the hub by one of the fastening devices.

Anti-rollback mechanism for a wheelchair

An anti-pushback mechanism for a wheelchair provides for a side mounted lever to allow the wheelchair to move in a forward motion only, a rearward motion only, or a neutral position where it can be pushed in any direction. This lever is connected to a ratcheting style gear that stops rollback when engaged. A torsion spring moves the chair forward slightly as the user stands to keep the chair close to the user and prevent falling. The invention may be provided as an add-on kit for existing wheelchairs. The kit would consist of a center axle, the ratchet gear, the torsion spring, the crossbar frame, the actuating lever, a guard for the lever, and any associated clamps and fasteners.

Hand Propelled Wheeled Vehicle

A hand propelled wheeled vehicle, specifically a wheelchair, containing a pair of hand actuated, lever driven mechanisms to rotate the main wheels. The levers pivot around attachment points on the left and right sides of the vehicle chassis. The left lever actuates a frame responsible for contra-rotating two integral one-way clutches arranged on a drive shaft coupled to the left main wheel, with the right lever operating the right side mechanism in an identical fashion. The arrangements of the clutches utilize both the forward (pushing) and backward (pulling) stroke of the lever to rotate the main wheels forward. Steering and braking control is afforded through attachments integral to the hand grips of the right and left hand levers, respectively.

Mobility system including an exoskeleton assembly releasably supported on a wheeled base

A mobility system includes a wheeled base, an exoskeleton assembly, and a docking assembly arranged to support the exoskeleton assembly on the wheeled base. The exoskeleton assembly has an upper torso portion, upper leg portions pivotal relative to the torso portion and lower leg portions pivotal relative to respective ones of the upper leg portions. The docking assembly is operable to couple the exoskeleton assembly to the wheeled base in a sitting position. The seating surface in the sitting position and the position control motors for operating the exoskeleton from sitting to standing are all separable from the wheeled base together with the exoskeleton assembly. Alternatively, extensible links may dock the standing exoskeleton to the wheeled base so that the base can trail the exoskeleton through a walking motion.
