Indication system to identify open space beneath patient support apparatus
A patient support apparatus includes a support structure having a base and further includes an indication system having one or more clearance sensors configured to detect clearance within a clearance zone between the patient support surface and a floor surface and are also configured to generate one or more clearance signals corresponding to the detected clearance. The indication system also includes a controller coupled to the clearance sensors that is configured to receive the one or more clearance signals and generate an output based upon the received clearance signals. A display coupled to the controller is configured to receive the generated output and generate a visual clearance indication corresponding to the detected clearance within the clearance zone, or in specific predefined portions of the clearance zone, that is viewable in a viewing area of the display.
Side Rail Assembly For A Patient Support Apparatus
A patient support apparatus includes a support structure having a patient support deck and a side rail coupled to the support structure. The side rail is movable relative to the support structure. A lock releasably locks the side rail in one or more side rail positions, such as in a raised position and an intermediate position. A manual release is coupled to the side rail and operable to unlock the side rail. A bypass lever is provided to allow a user to raise the side rail from a lowered position to the raised position without locking in the intermediate position. A damper is located inside the side rail to counterbalance the weight of the side rail and assist the user in raising the side rail, bi-directionally. The side rail is formed of first and second walls that are heat staked together to form a lightweight side rail of suitable strength.

STRUCTURE
According to an embodiment, a structure is detachably attached to a bed apparatus. The bed apparatus includes a holder and a first frame that includes a portion extending in a first direction. The structure includes: a first portion of a columnar shape extending in a second direction that intersects the first direction; and a second portion continuous to the first portion and including a portion extending in a third direction that intersects the second direction. The first portion is inserted in the holder so that the holder holds the structure. When the structure is attached to the bed apparatus, an angle between the first direction and the third direction is variable. The structure that can facilitate aid of bed departure can be provided.
BED APPARATUS
According to an embodiment, a bed apparatus includes a frame, a side rail, and a holder. The holder is secured to the frame. The holder holds the side rail to make the side rail switchable between a first position state where the side rail is in a first position and a second position state where the side rail is in a second position lower than the first position. The holder includes: a lock portion to lock the side rail in the first position state; a cover portion to cover at least part of the lock portion; a lever portion to be operated to release lock of the lock portion; and a stopper portion to make it difficult for the lever portion to operate to release the lock. The bed apparatus that can prevent erroneous release of the lock can be provided.
SAFE BED SYSTEM
A pad assembly for an occupant platform having rails. The pad assembly includes a foam pad comprising an outward portion that covers an outward face of one rail and a top portion that covers a top end of the one rail. The pad assembly also includes an inner casing that encases and is attached to the foam pad and an outer cover that covers the inner casing. The outer cover has a fastener for securing the pad assembly to the one rail.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING AND CONTROLLING BED FUNCTIONS
A method and system for patient monitoring, the system comprising a surveillance camera configured to generate a plurality of frames showing an area in which a patient in a bed is being monitored, and a computer system comprising memory and logic circuitry configured to determine bed rails positions of the bed, identify a position of the patient, and generate signals that control the bed rails of a bed based on the bed rails positions and the position of the patient.
Hospital bed with pivoting side rail
The hospital bed with pivoting side rail includes a bed frame having a headboard, a footboard and a platform mounted thereon. The side rail has an upper end, a lower end, and first and second longitudinally opposed sides. The lower end of the side rail is pivotally attached to the bed frame, and the upper end of the side rail is releasably attached to the headboard and the footboard. In order to safely and easily deploy and collapse the side rail, first and second adjustable struts are provided, the struts having opposed first and second ends, such that the first ends of the first and second adjustable struts are pivotally attached to the first and second sides of the side rail, and the second ends of the first and second adjustable struts are pivotally secured to the headboard and footboard, respectively.
Method of predicting occupant egress from an occupant support based on perimeter panel status and occupant location, and a related apparatus
A method of evaluating the likelihood that an occupant will exit an occupant support comprises determining if the location of the occupant on the occupant support is displaced relative to a reference location, and if the location of the occupant is so displaced, designating that the occupant is at a risk of exiting the occupant support which is elevated relative to the baseline risk. A support apparatus comprises a framework, a mattress, sensors distributed on the support apparatus to sense occupant weight distribution on the support apparatus, and a processor adapted to designate a risk of occupant egress as a function of the direction of the occupant weight distribution and the elevation status of the perimeter panels.
