A modular patient lift system includes a ceiling grid, a plurality of rails, a gantry configured to traverse the ceiling grid via the plurality of rails, and a patient lift coupled to the gantry and configured to traverse the ceiling grid with the gantry. The modular patient lift system further includes one or more sensors provided on at least one of the plurality of rails, the gantry, and the patient lift, the one or more sensors configured to collect at least one of environmental data and position data.

A patient lift system includes a motor and a drum. The drum is operably coupled to the motor. The drum can be selectively driven to rotate by the motor. A housing surrounds at least the motor and the drum. A load-bearing member is provided that includes a first end and a second end. The first end of the load-bearing member can be operably coupled to at least one of the housing and the drum. The second end of the load-bearing member can be operably coupled to a patient support assembly. An electrically conductive member can be positioned within the load-bearing member. A user interface is configured to actuate the patient support assembly in vertical and horizontal directions.

A patient support apparatus, such as a bed, cot, stretcher, operating table, recliner, or the like, includes a litter frame, a support deck, a user interface having a touchscreen and a controller configured carrying out various functions and to display various screens on the touchscreen. When user input to control the litter frame or support deck is received, the controller is configured to add a numeric indicator representative of the position of the litter frame or support deck to the screen. When a user input to carry out a function for which the apparatus is not in an acceptable state, the controller is configured to notify the user of this error and provide a control for remedying the error on the touchscreen. The controller is further configured to provide multiple levels of help information on the screen.

The controller includes logic that controls operation of the first lifting strap feeding device and the second lifting strap feeding device based on a comparison of current draws of the first lifting strap feeding device and the second lifting strap feeding device.

Overhead lift units are disclosed. In one embodiment, an overhead lift unit includes a carriage having wheels engageable with a rail, a lift frame coupled to the carriage such that the lift frame is suspended from the carriage, and a pair of load beams. The lift frame includes a lift strap extending from the lift frame and a pair of connection points extending from the lift frame. Each load beam of the pair of load beams is attached to one connection point of the pair of connection points of the lift frame at an inferior end of the load beam. Each load beam of the pair of load beams is attached to the carriage at a superior end of the load beam. And each load beam of the pair of load beams comprises a strain gauge operable to register a weight supported on the lift strap.

The sub frame (91) is arranged on the load sensors (95, 96, 97), said load sensors (95, 96, 97) defining a weighing area (S), whereby the patient support device (20) is mounted to the frame (31) such that a central point (C) of a seat support portion (21) of the patient support device (20) is positioned outside the weighting area (S) in at least one position of the patient support device (20).
