Device and method for assisting breathing in a subject

A distension/compression device for assisting breathing in a subject according to one embodiment includes a first tube having a flexible and elastic material that forms a first tube lumen extending from a proximal end to a distal end of the first tube. Longitudinal expansion of the first tube is restricted less than radial expansion of the first tube. A connection element including a first air supply port is in fluid communication with an open proximal end of the first tube lumen and attached to a proximal end of the first tube. A method for assisting breathing of a patient and a method for assisting the clearing of secretions is also included.

LUNG AIRWAY CLEARANCE

A system for providing treatment adapted to clear lung airways, the system including at least one pressure applicator adapted, when activated, to apply pressure at at least one specific location on a torso of a patient, and, when deactivated, to release the pressure, a sensor for sensing a signal associated with the patient, and, a controller, in communication with the sensor, adapted to analyze the signal and to control activation and deactivation of the at least one pressure applicator based, at least in part, on analyzing the signal. Related apparatus and methods are also described.

A system and method for mechanical CPR can include a device for providing compressive force to various locations on a patient, and biological monitoring systems to measure the effectiveness of the various locations of compressive force in pumping blood through the patient. The system can also include providing decompressive force to increase the efficacy of blood flow.

Multi-Part Device for Controlled Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation during Cardiac Arrest
20170312170 · 2017-11-02 ·

The invention relates to a device for controlled cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which allows the user to reanimate a human body quickly and simply during a cardiac arrest. The geometric dimensions of the claimed device are comparatively small and lie between approximately 10 and 25 cm in diameter and approximately 6 and 12 cm in height. During use, a force K is exerted onto a first force transmission means, a clearly audible signal being generated when a maximum adjustable force exertion Kmax is reached. Said clearly audible signal is primarily generated by the interaction of oscillatory elements of said device.

DEVICE FOR SELECTIVE REGIONALIZATION OF PULMONARY AERATION TO THE POSTEROLATERAL PART OF THE LUNGS

The invention relates to a device (10) for selective regionalization of pulmonary aeration, intended to apply a vacuum over a posterolateral part of a patient's chest wall, said device comprising a rigid or semi-rigid shell (11) intended to selectively surround a posterior part of the patient's chest wall, and a layer of honeycomb material (12) covering an internal wall (13) of the rigid shell, intended to be in contact with the patient's chest wall, said shell comprising at least one through hole (14), intended to be connected to a negative pressure generator.

CPR compression device and method

Improved automatic chest compression systems which use constricting belts, repeatedly inflating bladders, or reciprocating pistons to compress the chest. A bladder is placed between the chest and the particular mechanism used to compress the chest during CPR. The bladder maximizes the effectiveness of chest compressions.
