Noninvasive, Regional Brain Thermal Stimulation for Inducing Relaxation
Methods, systems and devices for reducing anxiety, including increasing relaxation and/or calm. In some variations these methods may include reducing anxiety, increase relaxation and/or calm by non-invasive temperature regulation of the frontal cortex prior to and/or during sleep. The subject may have an anxiety disorder, or may not have a diagnosed anxiety disorder.
Whole-body human-computer interface
A human-computer interface system having an exoskeleton including a plurality of structural members coupled to one another by at least one articulation configured to apply a force to a body segment of a user, the exoskeleton comprising a body-borne portion and a point-of-use portion; the body-borne portion configured to be operatively coupled to the point-of-use portion; and at least one locomotor module including at least one actuator configured to actuate the at least one articulation, the at least one actuator being in operative communication with the exoskeleton.
Flexible members for anchoring to the body
A flexible anchor member comprising a member for placement about a body part; at least one substantially inextensible textile element circumscribing the member and secured to itself or the member; and a force transfer coupler coupling a portion of the at least one substantially inextensible textile element to an actuator such that the substantially inextensible textile element constricts about the member for a duration of an applied force. Another flexible anchor member comprising an outer member including a substantially inextensible textile material configured for directing a force applied by an actuator to act upon all or a portion of the body part; an inner member for positioning between the body part and the outer member, a first surface of the inner member configured for frictionally engaging the body part or intervening clothing; and at least one coupler for coupling the outer member and the inner member.
Apparatus for stimulating synchronized body motions of a user
An apparatus and method are provided for imparting a repetitive motion to a user. The apparatus may include one or more seat platforms and one or more backrests. Repeated motion of the pelvis and shoulders of the user may be contra lateral. The motions of the user may mimic walking. The apparatus may include a chair. The apparatus may include a sensor. The sensor may be used to control the apparatus and/or the sensor may be used to adjust the movement regime according to the user. The apparatus may help for example, to mobilize limited mobility users and/or to train healthier habits.
Systems and methods for treatment of abnormal visual development
Systems and methods for treatment of abnormal visual development, including at least the steps of establishing determined metrics for a patient, wherein the determined metrics include at least a diameter and a distance of the patient’s scotoma and/or the patient’s fostoma; providing, based on the determined metrics, one or more visual therapy elements; and displaying, via an electronic device, visual representations of the one or more visual therapy elements, wherein the one or more visual therapy elements comprise visual complications and/or movements of a scotoma image and/or a fostoma image.
ALIGNING VISION-ASSIST DEVICE CAMERAS BASED ON PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF A USER
A vision-assist device may include at least one image sensor for generating image data corresponding to an environment, a user input device for receiving user input regarding one or more physical characteristics of a user, and a processor. The processor may be programmed to receive the image data from the at least one image sensor, receive the user input from the user input device, and adjust an alignment of the at least one image sensor based on the received image data and the user input. Methods for aligning an image sensor are also provided.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR BODY WEIGHT SUPPORT SYSTEM
An apparatus includes a drive mechanism, a patient support mechanism, and an electronic system. The drive mechanism is included in a trolley and is configured to suspend the trolley from a support track. The drive mechanism includes a first sensor configured to sense an operating condition of the drive mechanism. The patient support mechanism couples to the trolley and includes a tether and a second sensor. The tether can be operatively coupled to a patient such that the patient support mechanism supports the patient. The second sensor is configured to sense an operating condition of the patient support mechanism. The electronic system is included in the trolley and has at least a processor and a memory. The processor is configured to define a gait characteristic of the patient based at least in part on a signal received from the first sensor and a signal received from the second sensor.
ADAPTIVE DERMAL CARE METHODS AND APPARATUS
The invention is broadly directed to a skin care apparatus comprising: a camera; a light device for emitting at least one of a blue, a green, a yellow and a red light; a vibration pad; a heating element; a heat sensor; a skin moisture sensor; an iontophoresis module; and a control processor configured to: operate the camera and the skin moisture sensor to perform a skin quality assessment of a user's skin, and operate any one or more of: the light device, the vibration pad, the heating element, the heat sensor, and the iontophoresis module to provide a bespoke skin treatment for the user's skin based on the skin quality assessment.
THERMAL DEVICE AND METHOD FOR OPERATING SAME
A thermal device comprising a heatable and ventilatable thermal cabin (2) for at least one person is equipped with adjustable heating means (4) and with adjustable ventilation means (6) and, optionally, with a temperate sensor (8). Furthermore, detection means (10) are available for the continuous detection of the presence of persons situated in the thermal cabin, wherein said detection means interact with a heating control device (12) for the heating means (4). Due to the fact that a base heating power can be set when no one is present and that a comparatively higher operational heating power can be set when someone is present, the energy requirement when operating the thermal facility can be reduced considerably.
USE OF CANNABINOIDS IN THERAPY AND WELL-BEING APPARATUSES
The present invention relates to a device for applying energy to a human body. The device comprises a contact surface which defines an application region in which a human body can be placed in the effective range of the energy. The device further comprises at least one means for outputting the energy directed substantially onto the application region, and at least one means for generating a vapour mixture comprising at least one cannabinoid. The device according to the invention also comprises at least one means for guiding the vapour mixture, which has an effective dose of at least one cannabinoid, into the surroundings of the breathing orifices of a human body. The present invention further relates to a method for operating such a device, and to the use of vapour mixtures comprising at least one cannabinoid in designated devices.
