The cap (4) may or may not be part of the capsule (3). A movement of said chamber (31) brings about the passage from the rest configuration to the operating configuration; said perforation means (32) comprising a conduit (320) which in said operating configuration places the inside of the container (2) in communication with the inside of the chamber (31). The withdrawal mouth (5) in the rest configuration, is in fluid communication with the chamber (31) or the container (2).
Pressurized gas powered liquid transfer device and system
A transfer device for transferring a medical fluid from a vial to a medical fluid injection device includes a vial holder where a vial spike positioned within the vial holder is configured to enter a vial containing a medical fluid when the vial is inserted into the vial holder. An expansion chamber having an interior cavity is in fluid communication with the vial spike. A pressurized gas cartridge is positioned with the interior cavity of the expansion chamber, while a puncture tip is configured to puncture the pressurized gas cartridge when actuated by a user. The vial spike is also configured to be in fluid communication with an injection device attached to the transfer device.
Device, method and kit for the reconstitution of a solid or semi solid pharmaceutical composition
A novel device, method and kit for reconstitution of a solid or semi-solid pharmaceutical composition by a negative pressure differential includes (i) a first adapter with a first connector, a first peripheral wall wherein the first adapter is coupled to the first vial by means of a first connector; (ii) a second adapter with a second connector, a second peripheral wall wherein the second adapter is coupled to the second vial by means of a second connector; (iii) a transfer port wherein the transfer port includes a first end ending in first adapter to gain access to first vial and a second end ending in second adapter to gain access to second vial; wherein the first adapters and the second adapter are joined together in vertical direction by means of horizontal wall; wherein the adapter connected to the vials by means of the ends.
Device for subcutaneous delivery of fluid medicament
An improved device delivers a fluid medicament to the subcutaneous tissue of a user. The device is better suited for patients with Parkinson's Disease and other central nervous system disorders, than conventional infusion devices. The device can include a reusable part including a drive component (e.g., motor) and control electronics and a disposable part including a medicament reservoir. Medicament can be evacuated from the medicament reservoir by a plunger assembly that includes a plunger attached to a lead screw that is rotated by a nut, all within the disposable part. The device can be fluidically coupled with the tissue via a flexible cannula. Various embodiments relate to an improved cannula insertion mechanism that delivers the cannula under a force applied by a spring. Various embodiments relate to improved filling of the device, for example, using a vial adapter and an automated filling station.
System, apparatus, and method for extending the useful life of medicine
An apparatus to preserve a first fluid of a medicine vial is provided. The apparatus may include a vial coupling member comprising a housing and a flexible membrane. The housing and the flexible membrane form a vial coupling member cavity within the vial coupling member. The apparatus may also include a first fluid pathway forming a first lumen that is in fluid communication with the vial coupling member cavity. The apparatus may further include a second fluid pathway forming a second lumen that is in fluid communication with the vial coupling member cavity. When the flexible membrane engages the medicine vial, the flexible membrane forms a sealed environment over a medicine vial septum. When the flexible membrane engages the medicine vial, the flexible membrane permits the first lumen and the second lumen to establish fluid communication with an interior space of the medicine vial.
Septum holders for use in syringe connectors
A septum holder having a body. The body has a disk shaped annular upper body part and a lower body part, at least one resilient elongated arm terminating with a distal enlarged element attached to the side of the body, and a septum fitted into the lower body part so that it extends downward parallel to the at least one arm. The septum is made of a single piece of cylindrically shaped resilient material. The upper part of the septum has a diameter larger than the middle part of the septum in order to form a flange that rests on an annular ledge created around the inside of the bottom section of the body when the middle part of septum slides through the open center at the bottom of the bottom section. The lowest part of the septum has a diameter that matches that of a septum in a fluid transfer component. The septum has a cavity created in its middle part into which an insert having at least one bore that functions as the seat of a needle valve is inserted.
ALTERNATIVE FLUIDIC PATHING FOR SERIALLY CONNECTABLE DRUG MODULES
Various embodiments are disclosed herein related to fluidic connections for modules useable in combinatorial drug delivery devices. The fluidic connections allow for variable flow paths to be defined for serially-connected, and base-tray mounted, modules.
Connector
There is provided a connector, for introducing or extracting a material to or from at least one receptacle, comprising a housing extending between a distal end and a proximal end, the housing comprising, at least at one end, a pierceable seal; a hollow needle mounted, at least partially, within the housing between the distal end and the proximal end of the housing, a first end of the hollow needle being connected or connectable to a first corresponding receptacle, and a second end of the hollow needle facing the pierceable seal at an end of the housing; and an actuating mechanism acting on the housing or the hollow needle to enable the hollow needle to pierce the pierceable seal thereby forming a communication through the pierceable seal, such that material is able to transfer through the connector.
PISTON VALVING FOR SERIALLY CONNECTABLE DRUG MODULES OF A COMBINATORIAL DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE
A valving arrangement is provided herein for regulating fluidics of modules usable in a combinatorial drug delivery device. The valving includes a slidable piston valve, adjustable to selectively seal an outlet path from a drug vial and a sealing port, in parallel to a vent, for selectively sealing an inlet path to the drug vial. Advantageously, the subject invention allows for applied negative pressure to adjust the valving to allow flow between serially-connected modules forming a drug delivery device.
LIQUID TRANSFER DEVICE WITH DUAL LUMEN IV SPIKE
A liquid transfer device includes a vial adapter that receives a vial. The vial adapter includes a vial spike that punctures a vial stopper of the vial and defines a vial spike lumen. The liquid transfer device also includes an intravenous (IV) port that receives a port spike of an infusion set. The liquid transfer device also includes a connector body including a vial adapter lumen in fluid communication with the vial spike lumen, a barrel connected to the IV port, and an IV spike including a central wall. The central wall defines a first IV spike lumen in fluid communication with the vial adapter lumen and a second IV spike lumen in fluid communication with the IV port. The first IV spike lumen and the second IV spike lumen are separated by the central wall.
