VALVE ASSEMBLY AND METHODS OF USE
A valve assembly including a housing having a base and an outer shell, which forms a proximal cavity and a distal cavity joined by a canal; an inner housing configured for longitudinal movement within the distal cavity; a seal positioned within the distal cavity that together with the longitudinal movement of the inner housing regulates the flow of fluid through the valve assembly; and one or more selected from the group consisting of the base notched with one or more notches and the inner housing having one or more through slots aligned to permit access to the one or more notches, the seal being a reversibly deformable sealing pin, and a torque limiter mechanism configured to resist the longitudinal movement of the inner housing distally until a sufficient radial force is applied.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MONITORING ADMINISTRATION OF NUTRITION
A system for monitoring a patient's nutrition administration, the system including a processing device and a memory storing instructions executable by the processing device for: accessing nutrition administration information for a plurality of patients describing nutrition administered by different forms to the plurality of patients; accessing medical information about the plurality of patients from a healthcare information system; accessing nutritional requirement data describing a nutritional requirement for the plurality of patients; determining a difference between a nutritional requirement for a patient of the plurality of patients based on the nutritional requirement data, an amount of a nutrient administered to the patient, and the nutrition administration information; and integrating the nutrition administration information for the patient, the medical information for the patient, and the nutritional requirement data for the patient, for determining a nutritional adjustment for administering the amount of the nutrient to the patient based on the difference.
Feeding tube with electromagnetic sensor
There is provided feeding tubes including an electromagnetic sensor including a sensor body comprising a core positioned at a distal end of the sensor lumen, and a wire extending along the length of the feeding tube, wherein an RF induced heating of the feeding tube in an MRI environment is below 5 degrees.
Colorimetric Based Gastric Tube Placement Verification System and Method
A method of gastric tube placement verification comprising the steps of: Inserting a gastric tube within the patient; Providing a colorimetric based gastric tube placement verification system for a patient gastric tube including i) a housing configured to be coupled to the gastric tube whereby stomach content aspirate can flow through an internal passage of the housing; and ii) at least one colorimetric based sensor within the housing and configured to come into contact with the patient stomach content aspirate, the least one colorimetric based sensor configures to detect a first gastric acid; Coupling the housing of the colorimetric based gastric tube placement verification system to a proximal end of the gastric tube; Aspirating stomach content of the patient whereby stomach aspirate can flow through an internal passage of the housing; and Visually inspecting at least one colorimetric based sensor within the housing for verification of proper gastric tube placement.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETECTING LOCATION OF A SEGMENT OF A FEEDING TUBE INSIDE A PATIENT
A method for detecting a location of a segment of a feeding tube is provided. The feeding tube has a proximal end, a hollow tube body and a distal end, and is placed inside the body of a patient. An audio collecting component is placed on a predetermined part of the patient. The method includes steps of pumping air into the proximal end of the feeding tube, collecting sound to obtain audio data by the audio collecting component, performing audio analysis on the audio data, and determining whether a segment of the hollow tube body is at a part inside the body of the patient that corresponds with the location of the audio collecting component based on result of the audio analysis.
MEDICAL TUBE POSITION CONFIRMATION SYSTEM
A medical tube position confirmation system for confirming the position of a medical tube that is used to supply nutrients to the interior of a body by means of tube feeding while an end portion thereof is inserted into (placed in) the stomach includes a light guide that is configured to guide light entering through an incident end portion so that the light exits through an exit end portion, and is configured to be insertable into the medical tube so that the exit end portion is disposed in the interior of the stomach, a light source that is optically connected to the incident end portion of the light guide and emits light containing wavelengths that pass through a living body, and a control unit that controls intensity of light emitted by the light source, wherein the control unit controls the intensity of light emitted by the light source within an intensity range that equals or exceeds a first intensity specific to a patient and is lower than a second intensity specific to the patient.
ENTERAL FEEDING PUMP DOCKING STATION HAVING INTEGRATED FLUSH MODULE
A docking station for removable connection to an enteral feeding pump enables automated flushing of an administration set loaded in the enteral feeding pump. The docking station may have a valve seat configured to receive a switchable flow valve of the administration set, a flush controller, an actuator connected to the flush controller and configured to releasably mate with the switchable flow valve when the switchable flow valve is received by the valve seat, and data communication means by which data signals sent by the enteral feeding pump are inputted to the flush controller of the docking station when the enteral feeding pump is connected to the docking station. In operation, the flush controller may receive a flush command sent by the enteral feeding pump and transmit a control signal to the actuator for switching the switchable flow valve to a flush position in response to the flush command.
GASTRIC PLACEMENT CONFIRMATION DEVICE
Devices, systems, and methods for inserting a medical device, such as a gastrostomy tube, are described. For example, a device includes a housing defining an outer surface, a first end, and a second end, the housing comprising an inner passage that extends from the first end of the housing to the second end of the housing, wherein the outer surface defines an aperture in fluid communication with a portion of the inner passage, and a sensing device configured to cover the aperture, the sensing device configured to detect a property of fluid within the inner passage.
