METHODS FOR INDUCING AN IMMUNE RESPONSE VIA BUCCAL AND/OR SUBLINGUAL ADMINISTRATION OF A VACCINE
Vaccine compositions that may be administered to a subject via the buccal and/or sublingual mucosa are provided. Methods for administration and preparation of such vaccine compositions are also provided.
ANTI-INFECTION AND ANTI-TUMOR MUCOSAL IMMUNE PREPARATION
An immune preparation includes an immune substance formed by polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid, a non-antibiotic amino compound, polyethyleneimine, and at least one metal ion. The immune preparation does not include any antibiotics to prevent potential side effects. The amino compound may be chitosan oligosaccharide. The immune preparation is suitable for mucosal administration. The mucosal immune preparation facilitates mucosal immunity of human body allowing for the activation and proliferation of various immune cells.
MRNA-ENCODED ANTIBODIES FOR CONTRACEPTION
Non-hormonal contraception compositions and methods for contraception are provided. One embodiment provides an antibody or an antigen binding fragment thereof that specifically binds to one or more sperm antigens and inhibits the ability of anti-body-bound sperm to fertilize an egg. Typically, the antibody is a monoclonal antibody, for example a human or humanized monoclonal antibody. In one embodiment, the antibody or antigen binding fragment thereof specifically binds to CD52g expressed on vertebrate, for example human, sperm cells and inhibits, blocks, or reduces the ability of the antibody-bound sperm to fertilize an egg. In one embodiment the antibody contains a membrane anchor. The membrane anchor can contain transmembrane domains, glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchors, or myristoylation motifs.
Compositions and methods of treatment of Ehlers-Danlos syndromes
A method is provided for treatment of symptoms of Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes comprising administration of a composition comprising rubeola virus, histamine and collagen.
SAPOVIRUS VACCINES
The present invention describes immunogenic compositions containing immunogenic polypeptides of Sapovirus, including immunogenic compositions containing antigens other than Sapovirus antigens, including antigens that may be used in immunization against pathogens that cause diarrheal diseases. Methods of eliciting an immune response with the immunogenic compositions as disclosed and methods of treating a Sapovirus infection are also described.
Treatment of immune diseases by administration of antigen-specific formulations
The present invention relates to the treatment of autoimmune and allergic diseases by oromucosal administration of a formulation consisting of an optimized combination of antigen, tolerizing agent and mucoadhesive carrier for each immune disease indication.
NEWCASTLE DISEASE VIRUS-BASED VECTORED VACCINE
Provided are compositions and methods for vaccinating against picornaviruses. The compositions include modified Newcastle Disease viruses (NDVs) that are sufficient to produce virus-like particles (VLPs) in a host recipient. The modified NDVs contain a single stranded negative sense RNA polynucleotide having nucleotide sequences configured in a 3′-5′ direction encoding sequentially NDV nucleocapsid protein (NP), phosphoprotein (P), matrix protein (M), fusion protein (F), hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) and RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (L) protein. A first nucleotide sequence encoding a picornavirus capsid polyprotein precursor is positioned between the between P and M nucleotide sequences. A second nucleotide sequence encoding a picornavirus protease that is capable of processing the capsid polyprotein precursor is positioned between the HN and L nucleotide sequences. Purified, infectious non-pathogenic NDV particles are included, as are methods for using such particles for vaccination against any infectious picornavirus. Kits and articles of manufacture containing and/or for making the NDV particles are also provided.
Method and system for protecting honey bees from pesticides
A method and system for the treatment of honey bees (Apis mellifera), bats, and butterflies protects them from various life threatening conditions, including Colony Collapse Disorder and in particular, provides honey bees with the ability to assimilate and degrade pesticides such as neonicotinoids and fipronil.
MUCUS PENETRATING PARTICLE COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF ENHANCING IMMUNE RESPONSE
Mucus penetrating nanoparticles for inducing, increasing, or enhancing an immune response typically include core of a blend of a biodegradable hydrophobic polymer and a hydrophilic polymer, wherein ≥50% of the biodegradable polymer is conjugated to the hydrophilic polymer, and the hydrophilic polymers forms a coating on the particle. The particles encapsulate a cargo, typically an antigen, adjuvant or other immunomodulator, or a nucleic acid encoding the antigen, or combination thereof. Pharmaceutical compositions including an effective amount of particles to induce an immune response in a subject in need thereof are also provided. Methods of inducing an immune response are also provided, and typically include administering to a subject, preferably via the respiratory tract, the pharmaceutical composition. In some embodiments, the subject has cancer or an infection of the lung.
TREATMENT OF CELIAC DISEASE
Microorganisms are provided, such as lactic acid bacteria (e.g., Lactococcus lactis) containing an exogenous nucleic acid encoding an IL-10 polypeptide and an exogenous nucleic acid encoding a CeD-specific antigen (e.g., a gliadin polypeptide comprising at least one HLA-DQ2 specific epitope, at least one deamidated HLA-DQ2 specific epitope, at least one HLA-DQ8 specific epitope, at least one deamidated HLA-DQ8 specific epitope, or a combination of (a) at least one HLA-DQ2-specific epitope and/or at least one deamidated HLA-DQ2 specific epitope, and (b) at least one HLA-DQ8 specific epitope and/or at least one deamidated HLA-DQ8 specific epitope) polypeptide, wherein both exogenous nucleic acids are integrated into the bacterial chromosome. Such microbial strains are suitable for human therapy. Compositions (e.g., pharmaceutical compositions), methods of using the microorganisms and compositions are provided, e.g., for the treatment of celiac disease (CeD). The microorganism may be administered orally, delivering the microorganism into the gastrointestinal tract, where it is released and expresses the bioactive polypeptides.
