PROCESSES FOR PRODUCING PARTICLES OF AT LEAST ONE POLYHYDROXYALKANOATE (PHA)
A process for producing particles of at least one polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), the particles having an average diameter (d50) greater than or equal to 0.1 μm and less than or equal to 100 μm, may include: providing an aqueous suspension of the at least one PHA; and subjecting the aqueous suspension of the at least one PHA to a process of atomization by spray drying. A process for producing particles of at least one PHA, the particles having an average diameter (d50) greater than or equal to 0.1 μm and less than or equal to 100 μm, may include: atomizing an aqueous suspension of the at least one PHA by spray drying the aqueous suspension.
OIL-BASED PARTICLES AND EXTERNAL COMPOSITION
Oil-based particles have an average particle size of 0.05 mm to 10 mm, and include: (A) polar oil; and (B) an oily gelling agent having a melting point of 60° C. or more.
AQUEOUS DISPERSIONS OF INSOLUBLE ALPHA-GLUCAN COMPRISING ALPHA-1,3 GLYCOSIDIC LINKAGES
Disclosed herein are methods of producing aqueous dispersions comprising insoluble alpha-glucan having at least 50% alpha-1,3 glycosidic linkages. For example, in addition to dispersing insoluble alpha-glucan that has never been dried, methods are disclosed for effectively dispersing insoluble alpha-glucan that has previously been dried. Further disclosed are aqueous dispersions comprising insoluble alpha-glucan, such as those produced by the disclosed methods. Aqueous dispersions of the present disclosure have enhanced features of viscosity, stability, and particle size distribution, for example. Application of aqueous dispersions in various products and uses are also disclosed.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR REPAIR OF SPLIT-ENDS IN HAIR
Compositions and methods are disclosed for repairing split ends in hair and/or micro-damage to hair shafts. The compositions comprise a variety of oils, optionally including meadowfoam seed oil (Limnanthes alba seed oil), abyssinian oil (Crambe abyssinica seed oil), and camellia seed oil (Camellia oleifera seed oil). The compositions for repair of split ends and/or micro-damage to hair shafts may be encapsulated in microcapsules. The disclosed compositions and methods can completely repair split ends 3 mm long and under, within one-minute following application.
SILICA MICROCAPSULES
Silica microcapsules, each of which includes a shell, and a core containing one or more organic compounds inside the shell, a softener composition containing the silica microcapsules, and a method of producing the silica microcapsules is described. In the silica microcapsules, the shell contains silica as a constituent component, and the organic compound contains a primary alcohol.
