20230226156 · 2023-07-20 ·

Disclosed are a composite nanomaterial based on a metal-organic framework (MOF) material loaded with horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and a preparation method and use thereof. The composite nanomaterial based on the MOF material loaded with HRP includes a hafnium-based MOF material and HRP loaded thereon, where the hafnium-based MOF material is formed by self-assembly of 2′-amino-1,1′:4,1″-terphenyl-4,4″-dicarboxylic acid and hafnium ions through a coordination bond.

DEXAMETHASONE PRODRUG COMPOSITIONS AND USES THEREOF

The disclosure features pharmaceutical compositions formed from prodrug dimers for the extended delivery of a drug and for the treatment of a disease or condition.

HU specific interfering agents

Methods of and compositions for breaking down a biofilm or inhibiting, preventing or treating a microbial infection that produces a biofilm are disclosed, which involves administration of an interfering agent capable of specifically competing, titrating, or inhibiting the binding of an HU protein to a microbial DNA. By competing with HU proteins that bind to DNA scaffold in the biofilm, these interfering agents destabilize the biofilm leading to destruction and removal of the biofilm by the immune system. Further method and composition aspects are contemplated in relation to infections caused by bacteria that export an HU protein.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR MODULATING ADMA IN BLOOD
20220409707 · 2022-12-29 ·

Compositions and methods are provided for metabolically degrading ADMA. In one embodiment a device is provided for reducing a patients ADMA levels in their blood wherein the device comprises a biologically active dimethylarginine dimethylaminohydrolase (DDAH) polypeptide covalently linked to a solid support. In one embodiment a method for reducing ADMA levels in a patients blood comprises the step of contacting the patients blood or a blood fraction with an immobilized biologically active DDAH polypeptide, wherein contact of the patients blood with said DDAH polypeptide results in degradation of ADMA present in the patients blood.

NANOPARTICLES FOR PREVENTING PERI/POST-MENOPAUSAL BONE LOSS AND/OR OBESITY

Nanoparticles and formulations for preventing or reducing peri-/post-menopausal bone loss and/or obesity in a subject are disclosed. The nanoparticles contain a cage, such as a zeolitic imidazolate framework (“ZIF”), a surface modifying agent, a targeting ligand, and an active agent. The surface modifying agent is attached to the outer surface of the cage and the targeting ligand is exposed to the surrounding environment. The active agent is encapsulated in the cage. The targeting ligand binds to a reproductive hormone or a receptor of a reproductive hormone. The active agent can be a ribosome inactivating protein, an apoptosis inducer, a hormone, a receptor ligand, or a nucleic acid, or a combination thereof, that inactivate ribosomes of gonadotroph cells and/or prevent or reduce secretion of follicle-stimulating hormones in the subject. Uses for formulations incorporating the nanoparticles for preventing or reducing peri-/post-menopausal bone loss and/or obesity in a subject are also disclosed.

NANOPARTICLES FOR TREATING PROSTATE CANCER

Nanoparticles and formulations for treating prostate cancer in a subject are disclosed. The nanoparticles contain a cage, such as a zeolitic imidazolate framework (“ZIF”), a surface modifying agent, a targeting ligand, and an active agent. The surface modifying ligand is attached to the outer surface of the cage and the targeting ligand is exposed to the surrounding environment. The active agent is encapsulated in the cage. The targeting ligand binds to a reproductive hormone or a receptor of a reproductive hormone. The active agents can be a ribosome inactivating protein, an apoptosis inducer, a hormone, a receptor ligand, or a nucleic acid, or a chemotherapy drug or a combination thereof, that kill and/or reduce or prevent growth or proliferation of gonadotroph cells and/or tumor cells, regulate FSH and/or LH secretion, and/or interfere with androgen production. Uses for formulations incorporating the nanoparticles for treating cancer in a subject are also disclosed.

NANOPARTICLES FOR TARGETED NON-SURGICAL SPAYING AND NEUTERING

Nanoparticles and formulations for non-surgical sterilization are disclosed herein. The nanoparticles for non-surgical sterilization contains a cage, such as a zeolitic imidazolate framework (“ZIF”), a surface modifying agent, a targeting ligand, and an active agent. The surface modifying agent is attached to the outer surface of the cage and the targeting ligand is exposed to the surrounding environment. The active agent is encapsulated in the cage. The targeting ligand binds to a reproductive hormone or a receptor of a reproductive hormone. The active agents can be a ribosome inactivating protein, an apoptosis inducer, a hormone, a receptor ligand, or a nucleic acid, or a combination thereof, that inactivates the ovaries or testes. Uses for the nanoparticles and formulations incorporating the nanoparticles for sterilizing a subject in need thereof are also disclosed.
