The present invention also relates to a biomaterial comprising Histatin-1 or its derivatives in a biocompatible material, and a method for the treatment, repair, formation or regeneration of bone tissues in a subject comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of Histatin-1 or its derivatives.
