The present invention relates to improved complexes of amorphous calcium phosphate and/or amorphous calcium fluoride phosphate stabilised by phosphopeptides/phosphoproteins by addition of stannous ions. These complexes have anticariogenic properties useful to protect tooth structures as they remineralize (repair) early stages of dental caries and have other dental/medical applications (including anti-calculus, anti-erosion/corrosion and anti-dentinal hypersensitivity). Disclosed herein is a chewable article for oral mucosa delivery of a composition. The chewable system comprises a chewable base with the composition embedded, coated, integrated or dispersed therein. The composition may be pressurized, oxygenated, and/or atomized. The composition may be released as an aerosol. In one embodiment, the chewable system comprises a pressurized capsule that dissolves or ruptures in the mouth to release a burst of the composition. The chewable system may be configured to allow the composition facing to the buccal mucosa.

Methods for neutralizing stomach acid in a subject including alginate-based nutritional products (“AP”). AP includes alginate as a reflux-neutralizing, raft-forming, stabilizing agent, including polylysine, dextrose and grapefruit seed extract preservatives. The methods are intended to provide relief or prophylaxis of acid reflux and other forms of indigestion in mammals. In some embodiments, dextrose and polylysine are combined to form a preservative for the alginate-based nutritional supplement. In other embodiments, a method for producing a reflux preventing raft is provided.

Oral-surface administered preparation for the prevention of illnesses acquired via the oral cavity and the pharynx
The invention includes a toothpaste or other orally applied product to be used at least once daily to help prevent or inhibit the acquisition of a number of infections by oral or pharyngeal tissues, particularly including the “common” cold. These compositions possess a combination of ingredients that is not found in other toothpastes or other orally applied products, and these ingredients work together to synergistically interfere with the acquisition of a number of pathogens. The toothpastes will have the usual dentifrice ingredients known to prevent tooth decay, as well as those that reduce halitosis (i.e., bad breath), and prevent gingivitis. In addition, the toothpastes will include one or more of: 1) GALALCOOL® as an individual compound, and not as an extract component; 2) zinc protoporphyrin IX; and 3) one or more other colorless or low-color tannin(s) each as an individual compound, and not as an extract component.

The disclosure provides a composition configured for oral use. The composition includes a gum base, one or more bulking agents; an active ingredient having a basic amine functionality; and an organic acid, an alkali metal salt of an organic acid, or a combination thereof, wherein at least a portion the active ingredient having the basic amine functionality is associated with at least a portion of the organic acid or the alkali metal salt thereof, the association in the form of a basic amine-organic acid salt, an ion pair between the basic amine and a conjugate base of the organic acid, or both.
