WATER-PERMEABILITY-IMPARTING AGENT, WATER-PERMEABLE FIBER, NON-WOVEN FABRIC, AND WATER-ABSORBING ARTICLE

A water permeability-imparting agent containing an alkylene oxide adduct (A) of a polyvalent active hydrogen compound represented by Formula (1):

R—[O(A.sup.1O).sub.m—(CH.sub.2CH.sub.2O).sub.n—H].sub.1   (1)

wherein R represents a residue, after removal of all active hydrogen, of the polyvalent active hydrogen compound; A.sup.1O represents a C2 to C4 alkyleneoxy group; m represents an average addition mole number of A.sup.1O and is a number of 4 to 50; n represents an average addition mole number of CH.sub.2CH.sub.2O; and 1 represents a valence and is an integer of 3 to 6, and an average addition mole number ratio between A.sup.1O and CH.sub.2CH.sub.2O in Formula (1), n/m, is 0 to 0.5.

ABSORBENT ARTICLE HAVING A LOTIONED TOPSHEET

The absorbent article of the invention has a liquid impervious backsheet and a liquid pervious topsheet joined to the backsheet. The topsheet has an inner surface oriented toward the interior of the absorbent article and an outer surface oriented toward the skin and hair of the wearer when the absorbent article is being worn and an absorbent core positioned between the topsheet and the backsheet. At least a portion of the topsheet outer surface comprises an effective amount of a lotion coating which is semi-solid or solid at 20 degrees C., the lotion coating comprising:

(i) from about 10 to about 95% of a substantially water free emollient having a plastic or fluid consistency at 20 degrees C. wherein the emollient contains 5% or less water, the emollient comprising a member selected from the group consisting of petroleum-based emollients, fatty acid ester emollients, alkyl ethoxylate emollients, and mixtures thereof;

(ii) from about 5 to about 90% of an agent capable of immobilizing the emollient on the outer surface of the topsheet, the immobilizing agent being miscible with the emollient, the immobilizing agent having a melting point of at least about 35 degrees C. wherein the immobilizing agent is selected from the group consisting of polyhydroxy fatty acid esters, polyhydroxy fatty acid amides, C14-C22 fatty alcohols, C14-C22 fatty acids, C14-C22 fatty alcohol ethoxylates with a degree of ethoxylation of 4 or less, and mixtures thereof.

Wound treatment containing collagen and a gelatin-reducing agent, and method for promoting wound healing

Disclosed is a wound treatment that includes collagen and a gelatin-reducing agent. Also disclosed is a wound dressing including a substrate, collagen, and a gelatin-reducing agent. The collagen and gelatin-reducing agent may be present in any suitable a weight ratio relative to one another, such as a weight ratio of about 0.25:1 to about 4:1 with respect to one another. Also disclosed is a method for promoting wound healing including administering collagen and a gelatin-reducing agent to a wound in need of treatment.

Nanotechnology-based hemostatic dressings

Hemostatic compositions including a combination of more than one hemostatic agent, and devices coated or impregnated therewith, have been developed. Nanotechnology yields hemostatic agents with large surface areas thereof, thereby increasing the hemostatic properties of the device to which they are applied. By combining more than one hemostatic agent and utilizing one or more different nanotechnology approaches to enhance the surface areas thereof, the capability of the dressing to stop bleeding is improved via more than one mechanism, and thus provides better hemostasis.

Hydrogen sulfide sustained releasing dressing and manufacturing method thereof

The invention is to provide a hydrogen sulfide sustained releasing dressing and a manufacturing method thereof. The hydrogen sulfide sustained releasing dressing includes a hydrocolloid, a surfactant and sodium hydro sulfide. The manufacturing method includes (a) heating and stirring a hydrocolloid material; (b) adding a surfactant and sodium hydrosulfide into the hydrocolloid material; and (c) injecting the hydrocolloid material containing the surfactant and the sodium hydrosulfide into a mold for thermoforming a hydrogen sulfide sustained releasing dressing.
