SYNERGISTIC ACTIVITY OF NOVEL COMPOUNDS AGAINST PLANKTONIC AND BIOFILM CELLS OF CLINICALLY RELEVANT PATHOGENS
The present disclosure provides compositions, methods of preparing, and method of use of a composition comprising: (a) about 0.05 wt % to about 10.0 wt % ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, a salt thereof, a chelating agent, or a combination thereof; (b) from about 2.0 wt % to 50.0 wt % ethanol (ET), isopropyl alcohol (IPA), or a combination thereof; and (c) from about 0.015 μg/mL to about 100.0 μg/mL chlorhexidine, a salt thereof, or a combination thereof. These compositions, as disclosed herein, eliminate greater the 95% of planktonic or biofilm cells from a central venous access device.
UV cure basecoatings for medical devices
The invention concerns coating composition comprising hydrophobic polymer for use as a photoreactive basecoat for a medical device or implant comprising a polymer made from monomers comprising: (a) 1 to 12 mol % of at least one photoactive monomer that is a hydrogen atom abstracter and (b) 99 to 88 mol % of one or more of acrylamides, methacrylamides, acrylates, methacrylates, and N-vinylpyrrolidone; wherein the polymer has a glass transition temperature (Tg) of less than 40° C.
Antimicrobial, non-thrombogenic polymer composition
The disclosed technology provides thermoplastic polyurethane compositions having antimicrobial properties while still maintaining good physical properties and good non-fouling properties, methods of making the same, and articles, including medical devices, made from such compositions. The disclosed technology includes a process of making an antimicrobial polymer composition, where the process includes mixing an antimicrobial additive into a base polymer and further includes mixing in a non-fouling additive, where the antimicrobial additive is chemically held in the composition and the antimicrobial and non-fouling additives do not negatively impact each other's effectiveness.
Water-based hydrogel blend coating and method of application to elastomeric articles
A water-based hydrogel polymer coating and a method of application to natural rubber or other elastomeric latex products are provided. The water-based hydrogel polymer is mixed with a blend of at least one elastomeric material to provide a hydrogel polymer blend composition. The water-based hydrogel polymer blend composition is applied in a single application to an elastomeric article, such as gloves, without additional solvents in the polymer blend composition and without a separate acid or chemical priming step. The water-based hydrogel coating herein provides increased lubricity to facilitate improved wet and dry donning of the elastomeric article.
ABSORBENT ARTICLE COMPRISING A LUBRICANT AGENT
The present disclosure relates to an absorbent article, such as an infant diaper, training pant, feminine hygiene article, adult incontinence article or wound care dressing. The absorbent article comprises a topsheet. The topsheet comprises or consists of a fibrous nonwoven layer arranged on a wearer facing side of the topsheet. The fibrous nonwoven layer is coated over a coated area on the wearer facing side of the topsheet with a coating composition. The coating composition comprises a lubricant agent comprising an alkoxylated diester selected from the group consisting of fatty ester lubricants.
COATING OF DENTAL PROSTHETIC SURFACES COMPRISING A DISTINCT LAYER OF A SYNTHETIC HYDROXYAPATITE
Subject matter of the invention are prosthetic mouldings, which have, at least area by area, at least one layer of biomimetic apatite selected from fluorapatite, hydroxylapatite or their mixtures on their surface, wherein the surface of the mouldings has micromechanical anchoring positions at least in this area to improve mechanical connection of apatite to the surface. Another subject matter of the invention are mouldings for use in dental, prosthetic treatment for tooth loss, in particular for cellular attachment of cells to prosthetic mouldings. Moreover, subject matter of the invention is the method for the production of the prosthetic mouldings.
Compositions and devices incorporating water-insoluble therapeutic agents and methods of the use thereof
Various aspects of the present disclosure provide compositions including a water-insoluble therapeutic agent and a gallate-containing compound. Other aspects provide methods of using such compositions.
DRUG-LOADED MEDICAL DEVICE AND PREPARATION METHOD, DRUG BALLOON, AND DRUG COATING PREPARATION METHOD
A drug-loaded medical device, a preparation method therefor, a drug balloon and a method of preparing a drug coating are disclosed. The medical device or the drug balloon is provided on a surface thereof with a drug coating including a stabilizer and a drug. The stabilizer includes an amphiphilic triblock polymer with hydrophilic segments at both terminals, and the drug coating forms a nano-drug particle suspension in a water-soluble environment. In this way, the prepared nano-drug coating has high drug loading and can deliver the drug in a desirable way. In particular, when it comes into contact with water, the drug can be restored to the original nano size, almost without any particle size increase. This not only avoids the risk of embolism caused by granules, but also enables higher device safety, increased drug uptake and improved therapeutic effects.
SWELLABLE POLYMER HYBRID FIBRES FOR A SLEEVE OF AN INTRALUMINAL ENDOPROSTHESIS
An intraluminal endoprosthesis has a biodegradable metallic supporting structure and a biodegradable sleeve surrounding the supporting structure. The sleeve includes fibres applied to the outer side of the supporting structure. The sleeve can be formed from fibres that each have a polymer core and a hydrogel casing. The sleeve can the sleeve be formed from a fibre mixture of polymer fibres and hydrogel fibres.
Balloon catheter, method of manufacturing a balloon catheter, and treatment method
A balloon catheter is disclosed that can effectively deliver a drug to living body tissue, a method of manufacturing a balloon catheter, and a treatment method. A balloon catheter is disclosed, the balloon catheter is provided on an outer surface of a balloon with a plurality of elongate bodies which are independent crystals of a water-insoluble drug extending in an elongate form. The elongate bodies include fixed-side elongate bodies which are fixed to the outer surface side of the balloon, and top-side elongate bodies which are bent or broken from the fixed-side elongate bodies and are continuous with or independent of the fixed-side elongate bodies.
