FLOWABLE COLLAGEN COLLOID AND METHOD OF FORMING
A hemostatic colloid and method of forming a hemostatic colloid for dispensing into a wound site to control bleeding is provided. The hemostatic colloid is comprised of collagen in microfibril, crystalline, powder or granular form and is mixed with a liquid thrombin solution to form a flowable collagen/thrombin hemostatic colloid.
NEONATAL FIBRIN SCAFFOLDS FOR PROMOTING WOUND HEALING
Disclosed are methods of promoting wound healing in a patient in need thereof comprising administering to the patient a composition comprising a neonatal fibrin scaffold. Further disclosed are in vitro methods for evaluating a target composition on human wound healing comprising a neonatal porcine plasma scaffold with the target composition and evaluating scaffold properties of the plasma sample.
System for the formation of fibrin foam
A device and method for forming fibrin foam, preferably utilizing a single container, comprising a base structured to be rotationally driven and including a separation chamber disposed and structured to receive a blood sample therein. The base includes a reaction chamber disposed in fluid communication with said separation chamber. The blood sample is separated into a plasma segment and a packed cell segment when subjected to sufficient centrifugation concurrent to the driven rotation of the base. According to structural features, and in some instances concurrent and continuous centrifugation, the plasma segment is directed from said separation chamber into said reaction chamber which includes sufficient quantities of gas and reactant composition to facilitate formation of fibrin foam therein concurrent to centrifugation. Further centrifugation of the fibrin foam and the inclusion of additional features such as a pressurized reaction chamber facilitate the formation of fibrin foam exhibiting varying chemical and/or physical properties.
Use of photosynthetic scaffolds in tissue engineering
The present invention is concerned with a photosynthetic scaffold that delivers oxygen and its uses for tissue engineering and the treatment of ischemia.
Polymeric compositions, delivery devices, and methods
Polymeric compositions, methods, and delivery devices for inhibiting bleeding are disclosed. The method includes applying a dried material topically to a wound site, where the material may include a cross-linked biologically compatible polymer which forms a hydrogel when exposed to blood and where the material may not include an active agent such as thrombin. A spring-loaded delivery device as described herein may be used to apply the dried material.
Use of photosynthetic scaffolds in tissue engineering
The present invention is concerned with a photosynthetic scaffold that delivers oxygen and its uses for tissue engineering and the treatment of ischemia.
Nanoparticles for the therapeutic treatment of radiation-induced skin ulcers
A method of treating radiation-induced skin toxicity or skin ulcers with nanoparticles after exposure to ionizing radiation and after an onset of radiation-induced skin toxicity or a radiation-induced skin ulcer by administering intravenously a suspension including fibrinogen-coated albumin nanospheres to a patient. A concentration of the suspension being sufficient to at least one of promote healing of the skin toxicity or reduce a size of the skin ulcer. The suspension can include fibrinogen-coated albumin nanospheres, sorbitol and/or caprylate. The suspension can be utilized for treating a patient to reduce an amount of blood loss in an organ of the patient or for treating a patient to mobilize stem cells or progenitor cells to accelerate healing of a wound.
BIOLOGICAL GLUE AND USE THEREOF AS A MEDICAMENT
Disclosed is a thrombin-free, liquid biological glue for therapeutic use, including fibrinogen and factor VIIa. The ratio of fibrinogen concentration to FVIIa concentration is 20000:1 to 1000:1, with the concentrations being expressed in weight per volume. The fibrinogen concentration is lower than 60 mg/ml. Also disclosed are a kit for preparing such a biological glue, a method to prepare the glue, and a medicament.
Cell preparations for extemporaneous use, useful for healing and rejuvenation in vivo
The present invention relates to new plasma or new platelet-rich plasma preparations, new cell dissociation methods, new cell associations or compositions, a method of preparation thereof, a use thereof, devices for the preparation thereof and preparations containing such a platelet-rich plasma preparation and cell associations or compositions. Specifically, the invention provides plasma or platelet-rich plasma alone or in cell composition preparations for use in tissue regeneration and bone regeneration and pain reduction.
Formulations for wound therapy
The present invention relates to novel formulations comprising a dry powder fibrin sealant comprised of a mixture of fibrinogen and/or thrombin, for use in the treatment of wounds or injuries, in particular for use as a topical hemostatic composition or for surgical intervention.
