MOBILE BEARING PROSTHETIC IMPLANT SYSTEM
A mobile bearing prosthetic implant may include a fossa implant seated in the fossa cavity of the skull and secured to the zygomatic arch. The fossa implant may define a primary recess constructed and arranged to mimic the articular eminence of the temporal bone such that a floating bearing connected to a ramus implant may translate along the original path that the condylar head would take during movement of the jaw. The floating bearing may be constructed and arranged to move from the first jaw angle recess to the second jaw angle recess and is positionable therebetween such that a longitudinal axis of the floating bearing is perpendicular to the direction of movement of the floating bearing within the fossa implant.

A system and method for altering bone growth on and within an orthopedic implant that includes an implant body; a plurality of electrodes, wherein each electrode is at least partially embedded in the implant body, and comprises: a set of primary electrodes comprising at least one electrode, wherein a non-embedded segment of each primary electrode is proximal to a bone growth region, a set of secondary electrodes comprising at least one electrode, wherein a non-embedded segment of each secondary electrode is distal to the bone growth region, and wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured to function in a stimulation operating mode, such that a subset of primary electrodes function as cathodes and a subset of secondary electrodes function as anodes; a control system comprising a processor, and circuitry that connects to the plurality of electrodes; and a power system.
Iodine-loaded bone repair material and method for producing the same
A highly safe and inexpensive bone repair material that stably exhibits high antibacterial activity for a long time in a living body by supporting a large amount of an iodine ion and is excellent in apatite forming ability and preservability. The material includes a substrate made of titanium or titanium alloy and a titanate film on a surface of the substrate, the film composed of a large number of crystalline masses having a crystal structure and containing a calcium ion and an iodine ion, wherein the mass contains layers having a Ti—O skeleton and the calcium and the iodine ions adsorbed between the layers.

AN ANTI-MICROBIAL COATING FOR OBJECTS SUCH AS PROSHETIC IMPLANTS
A method of providing an anti-microbial coating on an object, comprises the steps of pretreating the object in a first oxygen plasma to graft oxygen-based functional groups on the surface of the object by plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition, coating the pretreated object with a suspension of particulate graphene oxide to provide a graphene oxide coating on the object, treating the object in a hydrocarbon plasma to deposit an amorphous hydrocarbon film on the graphene oxide coating by plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition, and treating the object in a second oxygen plasma configured to etch and flatten the coatings on the surface of the object. A prosthetic implant having a metal or metal alloy surface and an anti-microbial coating on all or part of the surface is also described.

Small diameter vascular prosthesis
A small diameter vascular prosthesis includes an outer textile graft, an intermediate self-supporting coil or stent and an inner microporous layer. The outer textile graft allows for tissue ingrowth. The inner microporous layer provides blood impermeability without preclotting the prosthesis. The coil or stent provides kink resistance and resistance again collapsing of the outer textile graft and the inner microporous layer.

Preparation method of biomedical titanium implant with function of eliminating surface biomembrane
The present invention discloses a preparation method of a biomedical titanium implant with a function of eliminating a surface biomembrane. The method includes the following steps: firstly synthesizing mesoporous polydopamine (MPDA) nanoparticles by a “one-pot method”, constituting a surface-aminated titanium material through diacid corrosion and modification of a 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) coupling agent, and integrating the MPDA nanoparticles into the surface of the titanium material through Michael addition reaction; secondly, taking MPDA anchored on the surface of the titanium material as a photothermal material and a photosensitizer carrier, where MPDA contains abundant aromatic rings capable of facilitating abundant loading of a photosensitizer (indocyanine green, ICG) through π-π stacking interaction; and finally further modifying biocompatible RGD polypeptides on the surface of MPDA by Michael addition reaction, where a modified titanium material is referred to as Ti-M/I/RGD.
