SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANAGING NOCTURNAL TREATMENT

Treatment controllers and methods are provided that can be integrated with treatment systems, such as peritoneal dialysis systems, hemodialysis systems, and nocturnal treatment systems, to manage execution of treatment operations or a course of treatment based on timing information and/or patient sleep state.

Dialysis systems and related methods

A dialysis machine that includes a valve member having a deformable area configured to deform outwardly away when pressurized fluid is introduced into the valve member. The valve member is configured so that, when a dialysis fluid cassette is disposed in a cassette compartment of the dialysis machine and pressurized fluid is introduced into the valve member, the deformable area obstructs a fluid channel of the dialysis fluid cassette to control dialysis fluid flow therethrough.

A medical treatment machine, such as a dialysis machine (e.g., a home dialysis machine, such as a home hemodialysis machine or a home peritoneal dialysis machine) can receive a digital prescription file that defines parameters of a medical treatment to be administered to a patient. The digital prescription file can be prepared and delivered in such a way that the medical treatment machine can confirm that the issuer (e.g., provider) of the digital prescription file is an authorized issuer without having any a priori knowledge of the particular issuer. The digital prescription file can be delivered irrespective of the inherent security (or lack thereof) of the transmission medium in a tamper-evident format using minimal resources necessary to verify the validity of the digital prescription file and its issuer. The digital prescription file may be delivered to the dialysis machine using a network cloud-based connected health system.

Method of controlling medical fluid therapy machine brightness

A method of controlling a medical fluid therapy machine display brightness includes: performing a medical fluid therapy using the medical fluid therapy machine, the medical fluid therapy machine including a display; sensing an amount of ambient light impinging the display without receiving light directly from the display; controlling a level of backlight brightness for the display based on the amount of ambient light sensed; and displaying information relating to the medical fluid therapy on the display using the controlled level of backlight brightness.

ORGANIZER ANCHOR ASSEMBLY FOR DIALYSIS SYSTEM
20170246442 · 2017-08-31 ·

An organizer anchor assembly may include an organizer unit coupled to an anchor base having a flat bottom with sufficient surface area in contact with a table or other surface to secure the organizer assembly in place during use. The organizer unit holds and organizes lines of a medical device, such as a peritoneal dialysis machine. The anchor base may be flat to contact the cart or table surface and/or may include a perpendicular portion designed to wrap around an edge of the cart or table surface. The organizer anchor assembly may be beneficially used in connection with a home dialysis machine in which lines and connectors are desirably organized and anchored during a dialysis treatment. Portions of the organizer anchor assembly may be made of polymer materials that provide a frictional interface in contact with a surface to resist movement of the organizer anchor assembly across the surface.

LINE HOLDER ASSEMBLY FOR DIALYSIS SYSTEM

A line holder assembly may include a molded nest coupled to an anchor pad or base having a flat bottom with sufficient surface area in contact with a table or other surface to secure the line holder assembly in place during use. The nest is designed to extend around a cart or table edge and having tabs to accept a line holder for holding and organizing lines and which may be disposed in a vertical position. The anchor base may be made of or otherwise include a flexible, rubber-like material, such as silicone, and thereby use the material's natural stickiness to provide fixation to the table or cart. The line holder assembly may be beneficially used in connection with a home dialysis machine, such as a peritoneal dialysis (PD) cycler, in which lines and connectors are desirably organized and anchored during a dialysis treatment.

Techniques for determining fluid volumes using bioimpedance information

Techniques and apparatuses for determining fluid volumes of a patient are described. In one embodiment, for example, an apparatus may include at least one memory, and logic coupled to the at least one memory. The logic may be configured to receive baseline bioimpedance information for at least a portion of a human body at a baseline pressure, receive pressurized bioimpedance information of the portion of the human body at a pressurized pressure, the pressurized pressure greater than the baseline pressure and configured to substantially remove blood volume from the portion at the pressurized pressure, and determine at least one of interstitial fluid volume (V.sub.IT) or peripheral blood volume (BV.sub.P) based on the baseline bioimpedance information and the pressurized bioimpedance information. Other embodiments are described.

Dialysis machine including ultrafiltration and backfiltration means

A dialysis machine includes a dialyzer (1), a dialysate feed system (5) having a feed line (52), and a discharge system (6) having a discharge line (62). The machine further includes ultrafiltration control elements (UF) and back-filtration control elements (RF). The feed line is provided with a constriction (520) and with elements for measuring the pressure difference (523, 524) across the terminals of the constriction. The feed system further includes a ventricle bag (50), and pressurizer elements (70) for putting the ventricle bag (50) under pressure. The machine further includes an open/close system (C5, C5′) for opening/closing the discharge line (62) and the back-filtration control elements cause the discharge line (62) to close, and control the pressure applied to the ventricle bag (50), as a function of the pressure difference measured across the terminals of the constriction (520), so as to obtain a given flow rate of dialysate.

Measuring fluid flow associated with a dialysis machine

A dialysis machine (e.g., a peritoneal dialysis (PD) machine) can include a control unit configured to monitor an amount of fluid withdrawn from a heater bag line during a PD treatment. A processor in the control unit is configured to operate a first pump to draw fluid into a first pump chamber and measure a first fluid volume in the first pump chamber. The processor is further configured to operate the first pump and a second pump to transfer fluid from the first pump chamber to a second pump chamber, measure a second fluid volume in the second pump chamber, and determine a measured fluid volume for a single pump cycle based on the first fluid volume and the second fluid volume. The first fluid volume is correlated to the second fluid volume and, therefore, the multiple independent measurements increase an accuracy of the fluid volume measurement.
