Control systems and methods for blood or fluid handling medical devices
A processor of a medical device configured to communicate with a remote server can be programmed to protect the medical device from exposure to unauthorized or malicious software. A system or method to implement this form of protection can include, for example, at least one processor on the medical device, a control software module that controls the operation of the medical device and is executable on the processor, a data management module that manages data flow to and from the control software module from sources external to the medical device, and an agent module that has access to a limited number of designated memory locations in the medical device. In addition, a hemodialysis apparatus can be configured to operate in conjunction with an apparatus for providing purified water from a source such as a municipal water supply or a well. A system for controlling delivery of purified water to the hemodialysis apparatus can comprise a therapy controller of the hemodialysis apparatus configured to communicate with a controller of a water purification device, and a user interface controller of the hemodialysis apparatus configured to communicate with the therapy controller, and to send data to and receive data from a user interface.
Blood pressure prediction method and electronic device using the same
A blood pressure prediction method and an electronic device using the same are provided. The method includes the following steps. A training data set is collected. A first blood pressure prediction model is established according to the training data set. Hemodialysis parameter data of a target patient is received, wherein the hemodialysis parameter data includes a first hemodialysis parameter at a previous time point and a second hemodialysis parameter at a current time point. A hemodialysis parameter variation amount between the first hemodialysis parameter and the second hemodialysis parameter is calculated. The hemodialysis parameter variation amount is provided to the first blood pressure prediction model to generate a prediction blood pressure variation associated with a next time point. An operation is performed according to the prediction blood pressure variation of the target patient.
Apparatus for extracorporeal blood treatment
An extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus is provided comprising a filtration unit (2) connected to a blood circuit (17) and to a dialysate circuit (32), a preparation device (9) for preparing and regulating the composition of the dialysis fluid; a control unit (12) is configured for receiving a conductivity or sodium concentration set point for the dialysis fluid and for calculating a mass transport of a substance at an instant t of a treatment session based on said set value of the parameter for the dialysis fluid in the dialysis supply line (8).
Treatment fluid devices methods and systems
A conductivity measurement device includes first and second conductivity measurement flow channels positioned in a fluid circuit and fluidly linked for fluid flow between the first and second conductivity measurement flow channels. A controller having a current source connected to the first and second conductivity channels applies alternating voltages at frequencies that are different, each being respective to one of the first and second conductivity cells.
HEMODIALYSIS TREATMENT MODIFICATION
An example medical device includes a sensor configured to sense a parameter of interest that changes as a function of a hemodialysis treatment parameter and generate a signal indicative of the sensed parameter of interest. The medical device includes memory configured to store an association between the parameter of interest and the hemodialysis treatment parameter. The medical device includes processing circuitry configured to receive the signal from the sensor. The processing circuitry also is configured to determine a modification to the hemodialysis treatment parameter based on the signal indicative of the parameter of interest and the association. The processing circuitry is also configured to automatically modify the hemodialysis treatment parameter based on the determined modification.
IMPLANTABLE PUMP SYSTEM ENHANCEMENTS FOR USE IN CONDUCTNG DIRECT SODIUM REMOVAL THERAPY
Enhanced systems and methods for performing Direct Sodium Removal (DSR) therapy are provided in which an implantable device includes a variable speed motor-driven pump that may be programmed to output different flow rates at different stages of a DSR therapy session, wherein the system monitors operational parameters of the pump and is configured to generate an alarm condition indicative of a fault that may be displayed on a patient's smartphone to permit corrective action, and in which a catheter set implanted with the implantable device enables a DSR solution may be instilled into the patient's peritoneal cavity using a peritoneal catheter that is subsequently used to remove the DSR solution and sodium-rich ultrafiltrate from the peritoneal cavity to the patient's bladder.
Method of detecting symptoms of peritonitis
The invention relates to a method of detecting symptoms of peritonitis, wherein the method comprises the following steps: taking a photo of a drainage solution and/or of a catheter exit site using a smartphone and/or inputting at least one query parameter which is input by a patient through the input zone of a smartphone; and, evaluating the photo and/or the query parameter.
Hemodiafiltration system with disposable pumping unit
A hemodiafiltration system with a disposable pumping unit is disclosed. An example system includes a medical fluid pump actuator, a medical fluid heater, a blood filter and a disposable unit. The example disposable unit includes a medical fluid cassette portion including a medical fluid cassette housing configured to be operatively connected to the medical fluid pump actuator to pump medical fluid through the medical fluid cassette portion when the medical fluid cassette portion is in fluid communication with a medical fluid source. The example medical fluid cassette portion is also configured to be placed in fluid communication with the blood filter and with an extracorporeal circuit communicating with the blood filter, the fluid communication enabling hemodiafiltration to be performed. The example disposable unit also includes a heater bag configured to be placed in operable communication with the medical fluid heater and in fluid communication with the medical fluid cassette portion.
Method and system of monitoring electrolyte levels and composition using capacitance or induction
Methods and systems for monitoring fluid levels and electrolyte levels used in a dialysis machine. A receptacle, configured to receive a container, comprises a plurality of curved side panels and a base to form a cylindrical shaped cavity for receiving a container. Each panel includes a conductive material on its inner surface and, optionally, a shielding on its outer surface. An electronics component housed within, or near, the receptacle drives the capacitive process and interprets generated data to determine fluid levels and compositions. An alternate receptacle includes one or two coils wrapped about the container and uses induction to determine fluid level.
