A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING FLUID FOR PERITONEAL DIALYSIS

A system and method for producing fluid for peritoneal dialysis (PD) is disclosed. The system comprises a fluid path including one or more PD-concentrate connectors each connected to one or more sources of PD-concentrate fluid, and a water connector connected to a source of water. The system further includes a forward osmosis FO-unit including a draw side and a feed side separated by a FO-membrane. The FO-unit is fluidly connected to the fluid path. The FO-unit receives the one or more PD-concentrate fluids at the draw side, and receives the water at the feed side. Purified water is transported to one or more PD-concentrate fluids through the FO-membrane by means of an osmotic pressure gradient between the draw side and the feed side. The transported purified water is further purified by the FO-membrane and the one or more PD-concentrate fluids is diluted to produce a diluted PD-concentrate fluid.

Universal portable artificial kidney for hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis

Methods, systems, and kits are provided for performing hemodialysis, hemodiafiltration, and peritoneal dialysis on a portable machine suitable for both clinical and home use. Peritoneal dialysate can be flowed into and out of the peritoneal cavity, and can also be regenerated within the system, without the need for introducing fresh dialysate. Common hardware and software can be utilized for both peritoneal dialysis and other forms of dialysis such as hemodialysis, hemofiltration, and hemodiafiltration, allowing for facile transition between different dialysis modes using the same dialysis machine.

An assembly includes first and second assemblies, the first assembly including a frame defining a recess, a first plate disposed within the recess, and a bellows disposed between the first plate and an inner surface of the frame. The second assembly includes a second plate configured to be opposite the first plate when the first assembly is in a closed position relative to the second assembly. The first assembly is configured to move relative to the second assembly between an open position and the closed position, and a latch assembly configured to hold the first assembly to the second assembly in the closed position. The bellows is configured to inflate to apply a force to the first plate towards the second plate when the first assembly is in the closed position.

DIALYSIS SYSTEMS AND METHODS INCLUDING SENSOR FEEDBACK TO IMPROVE PATIENT EXPERIENCE

A peritoneal dialysis system for detecting peritonitis is disclosed herein. In one example, an impedance measurement system includes an impedance monitor configured to sense an impedance of peritoneal dialysis (“PD”) fluid residing within a fluid line. The impedance monitor includes a first conductive lead disposed within a first port along the fluid line and a second conductive lead disposed within a second port along the fluid line. The impedance measurement system also includes a control unit electrically coupled to the impedance monitor. The control unit uses the sensed impedance from the impedance monitor to detect white blood cells to form a patient peritonitis determination. The control unit may communicate the peritonitis determination to alert a clinician.

A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING FLUID FOR PERITONEAL DIALYSIS

A system for producing fluid for peritoneal dialysis (PD) is disclosed. The system includes a fluid path including two or more PD concentrate connectors that are each connected to a source of PD concentrate fluid, and an inlet connector connected to a fluid line arranged for transportation of effluent fluid from a patient. The system also includes a forward osmosis (FO)-unit including a draw side and a feed side separated by a FO-membrane. The FO-unit is fluidly connected to the fluid path and receives one or more PD concentrate fluids at the draw side and the effluent at the feed side. Water is transported from the effluent to the one or more PD concentrate fluids through the FO-membrane via an osmotic pressure gradient between the draw side and the feed side, thereby diluting the one or more PD concentrate fluids into a diluted PD concentrate fluid.
