Medicine vaporizer apparatus and methods of using the same

A medicine vaporizer apparatus comprises a base with an upwardly extending heating element disposed within a rigid tube. Air is drawn into the rigid tube through an aperture in the rigid tube below the heating element and directed over the heating element to then be drawn through a flexible tube and through a filter or screen comprising an amount of medicine. Heated air flows over the amount of medicine and vaporizes the same, wherein the medicine is thereafter drawn into the lungs of a patient pulling the air therethrough with his or her mouth. Thermal separation and cooling of various parts prevents accidental injury to users and provides an inert air path for the air therethrough. The apparatus further provides controlled incineration and/or vaporization of the medicine.

The system includes a source of pressurized breathing gas, a vapor transfer unit external to the source of pressurized breathing gas, a first gas tube connecting the source of pressurized breathing gas to the gas inlet of the vapor transfer unit and having a first length, a liquid supply having a heater that heats liquid, a first liquid tube coupling the liquid supply to the liquid inlet of the vapor transfer unit, and a second gas tube having a second length and connecting the gas outlet to a patient interface. The first length is greater than the second length. The vapor transfer unit includes a gas passage, a liquid passage, and a membrane separating the gas passage and the liquid passage. The membrane is positioned to transfer vapor from the liquid passage to the gas passage.

CPAP SYSTEM

An apparatus for humidifying a flow of breathable gas includes a water reservoir and a water reservoir dock forming a cavity structured and arranged to receive the water reservoir in an operative position. The water reservoir comprises a reservoir base including a cavity structured to hold a volume of water, the reservoir base including a main body and a thermally conductive portion provided to the main body. The thermally conductive portion comprises a combined layered arrangement including a metal plate and a thin film, the thin film comprising a non-metallic material and including a wall thickness of less than about 1 mm. The thin film is adapted to form at least a bottom interior surface of the water reservoir exposed to the volume of water, and the metal plate is adapted to form a bottom exterior surface of the water reservoir.

20230158259 · 2023-05-25 ·

In alternative embodiments, provided are products of manufacture fabricated or manufactured as medical devices such as an inhaler, an ionizer, an asthma “puffer-like” device, a nebulizer or a nasal spray device, a respirator or a ventilator, a warm or a hot air delivery device, and/or a CPAP (continuous positive air pressure) device (for example, for managing or treating sleep apnea) or equivalent, for delivering one or a combination of medications or drugs, and optionally also warm or hot air, and optionally also ionized air. Products of manufacture are used for treating, preventing, ameliorating, slowing the progress of, decreasing the severity of or preventing a microbial infection, such as bacterial and viral infections, including the common respiratory viruses such as influenza virus, respiratory syncytial virus, picornavirus, parainfluenza virus, adenovirus, rhinovirus, human metapneumovirus, hantaviruses, enterovirus, a coronavirus infection, or a COVID-19 or a 2019-nCoV (or so-called Wuhan coronavirus) infection, or an infection caused by a virus in the subfamily Orthocoronavirinae, or a virus in the family Coronaviridae, or a virus in the order Nidovirales. In alternative embodiments, products of manufacture as provided herein administer combinations, or cocktails, of a drug or drugs by inhalation, for example, by use of aerosol, mist, liquid or powder formulations for inhalation.

Dispensing device for introducing an anesthetic into a breathing gas stream

A dispensing device for dispensing anesthetic in a breathing gas stream includes a flow duct (42) for an anesthetic-containing breathing gas stream, a control unit (5) and a first temperature sensor (54). An anesthetic feed device (45) has an evaporation surface (46) arranged in the flow duct (42). Airway inhalant nebulizer device

A nebulizer device aerosolizes (or vaporizes) liquid drawn from a liquid reservoir via a fluid flow path into a nebulization chamber. An inlet port is coupled to an external air supply and leads through a check valve and Venturi nozzle (e.g. a duckbill valve) into the chamber to direct an air stream across an opening of the fluid flow path. A discharge port leads from the chamber to a user mask, mouthpiece or canula, where the aerosol or vapor mixture can be inhaled. A filtered outlet port isolates exhaled material from the external environment. Multiple discrete heating elements may be placed around the fluid flow path to preheat the liquid. If the liquid is sufficiently volatile, heating may vaporize the material which can condense back into an aerosol after mixing with the air stream. A set of check valves direct one-way fluid flow and prevent leakage or spillage of material from the device.
