An injection needle assembly (50) for an injection device, comprising: a) a needle cannula (3) attached to a needle hub (4) and defining a pointed tip at a free end (3a, 3b), and b) a needle cover (10, 10a, 10b) forming an axially extending elongated flexible enclosure accommodating the needle cannula (3). The needle cover (10, 10a, 10b) is configured to axially collapse and become penetrated by the needle cannula (3) when a penetration force is applied to the needle cover. The needle cover (10, 10a, 10b) defines a shaft section (11a) and a bulb section (11b). The shaft section (11a) encircles the needle cannula (3) and extends axially from the needle hub (4) to the bulb section (11b). The shaft section (11a) comprises a collapsible wall area (15) having wall thickness t.sub.1 less than a predefined wall thickness t.sub.1,lim to provide radial deformability for abutting contact with the needle cannula (3). The bulb section (11b) comprises a wall area (17a, 17b) having a wall thickness t.sub.2 being greater than said predefined wall thickness t.sub.1,lim, and further defines a central end wall area (20) having a wall thickness t.sub.3 smaller than the wall thickness t.sub.2. In an initial non-penet-rated state, the needle cover (10, 10a, 10b) assumes a first configuration wherein the wall areas of the bulb section (11b) and the wall areas of the shaft section (11a) are spaced apart from the needle cannula (3).

Safety-enhanced needle-free injector

A method for needle-free injection and a needle-free injector device are provided. The method includes automatically injecting an injectable into a surface in contact with the needle-free injector in response to a skin compression parameter of an end of the needle-free injector. A needle-free injector device (102) includes predefined structures formed on it to inject an injectable through a non-porous material. The predefined structures engage an airlock mechanism such that an airlock in the non-porous material and operably coupled to the airlock mechanism can only be opened and closed to enable needle-free injection through the non-porous material without disrupting an integrity of the non-porous material by the needle-free injector device. Other functions, embodiments and methods for using and programming the needle-free injector device are also provided.

DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE HAVING SHOCK ABSORBER

A drug delivery device is provided, including a housing, a drug storage container, a plunger, a plunger biasing member, a releaser, and a shock absorber. The housing defines a longitudinal axis and has an opening. The drug storage container includes a barrel, a stopper, and a delivery member, where the stopper is movably positioned within the barrel. The delivery member is positioned at a distal end of the barrel and has an insertion end configured to extend at least partially through the opening during a delivery state. The plunger is moveable toward the distal end of the drug storage container to engage the stopper and expel a drug from the drug storage container through the delivery member. The plunger biasing member is coupled with the plunger and configured to urge the plunger toward the distal end of the drug storage container. The releaser member has a first position wherein the releaser member prevents the plunger from moving into the delivery state and a second position wherein the releaser member does not prevent the plunger from moving into the delivery state. The shock absorber is configured to absorb an impact force and prevent unintended movement of the releaser member.

HOUSING ELEMENT AND DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE HEREWITH

The present disclosure refers to a housing element for a drug delivery device. The housing element comprises longitudinal axis and defines an interior space for receiving components of a drive mechanism of the drug delivery device and at least a portion of a cartridge of the drug delivery device. The housing element comprises an engagement feature for axially constraining the housing element to a cartridge holder of the drug delivery device. In order to constrain the cartridge in the housing element, it further comprises at least one crush web protruding radially inwards into the interior space. The at least one crush web is angled relative to the longitudinal axis of the housing element by at least 3° such that when the cartridge is introduced into the interior space the at least one crush web folds radially outwards.

The distal portion comprises a distal support structure engaging the cartridge neck portion and being adapted to support the cartridge against movement in the distal direction, and the proximal portion comprises a proximal support structure engaging the cartridge circumferential rim and being adapted to support the cartridge against movement in the proximal direction. The proximal support structure is essentially non-deformed, and the distal support structure engaging the cartridge neck portion is plastically deformed.

Also disclosed is a modular scheme which uses a common platform for the provision of a range of autoinjectors of different fill volumes, with only the length of the plunger (60), and the axial extent of the cut out varying between different versions.
