A device for administering a fluid is provided, with a cylinder (16, 116) which has an open dispensing end (17), a piston (36) which is displaceable between a front and rear end position in the cylinder (16, 116) and is connected to a piston rod (35) that protrudes along a first direction beyond a rear end of the cylinder (16, 116) opposite the open dispensing end (17) and is guided in a receiving block (10), a nonreturn valve (18) closing the open dispensing end (17), and a tensioning device (S) which is connected to the piston rod (35, 135) and is arranged in the receiving block (10). The tensioning device (S) has a ramp (52) which is rotatable by means of a motor (12) and has a ramp track (53) extending along a helical line, wherein the ramp track (53) ascends from a first plateau along a region of inclination (S1, S2) to a second plateau and descends from the second plateau to the first plateau via a transition flank (46). The tensioning device (S) furthermore has a roller (51) which is in contact with the ramp track (53) and is mounted rotatably in a driver (50), which is connected to that end of the piston rod (35, 135) which protrudes out of the cylinder (16, 116), and therefore, upon rotation of the ramp (52), the ramp track (53) runs below the roller (51), which thereby rotates, wherein the roller (51) has a support region (55) which rests on the region of inclination (51, S2) of the ramp track (53), and at least one laterally adjoining side region (56, 57) which has a smaller outside diameter than the support region (55) and which does not rest on the region of inclination (S1, S2) of the ramp track (53), wherein, during rotation of the ramp, both the support region (55) and the side region (56, 57) come into contact with an edge (54) of the ramp track (53), said edge connecting the second plateau to the transition flank (46).
Syringe for administering foam
Syringes which are suitable for dispensing and injecting medical foams for sclerotherapy are described and claimed. The syringes of the invention comprise a syringe barrel having a nozzle and a bore to receive a syringe plunger; a syringe plunger defined by a front end and a rear end connected by a tubular walls and having an internal hollow duct between the front end and the rear end, and through which foam can flow; and an injectate chamber formed by insertion of the front end of the plunger into the barrel. The syringes comprise a flow-disruptor arranged to modify the flow of foam as it enters the injectate chamber. In certain embodiments the syringes comprise waste chambers which capture and retain poor quality foam. The syringes are particularly useful for dispensing foams made with little or no nitrogen content and are configured to reduce the risk of air contamination during dispensing the foam. Kits comprising the syringes together with a suitable source of foam and methods of dispensing foam form further aspects of the invention.
INJECTION PENS FOR MEDICINE ADMINISTRATION
A medicine injection pen includes a body, a drive member, a cartridge housing, and a medicine cartridge retained within the cartridge housing. The drive member is configured to move relative to the body and the medicine cartridge defines an interior volume configured to retain a liquid medicine. The drive member is configured to translate a piston within the interior volume toward a dispensing end of the medicine cartridge to dispense at least some of the liquid medicine. The medicine cartridge also includes an insertion port configured to receive a medicine dispensing element therethrough for dispensing a liquid medicine into the interior volume to replace at least some of the liquid medicine dispensed through the dispensing end. Dispensing of the liquid medicine into the interior volume of the medicine cartridge applies a fluid pressure to the piston to translate the piston away from the dispensing end of the medicine cartridge.
Apparatus, system and method for fluid delivery
A filling aid device for filling a reservoir. The device includes a cover portion comprising a septum window; a slider beam comprising a septum cover; and a first filling aid tab attached to the slider beam, the first filling aid tab in slidable relation to the cover from a first position to a second position, wherein when the filling aid device is in an unlocked position, the septum cover is located below the septum window, wherein when the first filling aid tab is moved from the first position to the second position, the septum cover is moved from below the septum window, and the filling aid device is in the locked position.
DEVICE FOR ADMINISTERING A FLUID
A device for administering a fluid can include a cylinder, a piston connected to a piston rod, and a tensioning device connected to the piston rod. The tensioning device includes a ramp which is rotatable via a motor, a ramp track, and a roller which is in contact with the ramp track and which is mounted rotatably in a driver. The device can further include a front part, which includes the cylinder and the open dispensing end, and a rear part, which includes the tensioning device. The front part and the rear part can be formed from different materials.

Devices, systems, and methods of packaging for a pre-filled drug delivery device
A system for sterilizing a drug delivery device includes a drug delivery device having a first self-healing seal configured to seal a fluid reservoir disposed within the drug delivery device. A sealable container is configured to receive the drug delivery device therein. The sealable container has a base portion and a cover portion. The cover portion has a second self-healing seal positioned to align with the first self-healing seal when the drug delivery device is disposed within the sealable container. A fill port includes a fill path, the fill path being configured to pass through the first and second self-healing seals to fluidly couple the fill port to the reservoir of the drug delivery device. Other systems, methods, and devices of sterilization are also disclosed.
Pressure-regulating fluid transfer systems and methods
Various systems and methods for the pressure-regulated transfer of medical fluids are disclosed. The system can include an adapter assembly that connects with a medical container and with a syringe assembly. The syringe assembly can include a first reservoir and a second reservoir. In various embodiments, when the adapter assembly and the syringe assembly are coupled, the first reservoir and the container can exchange regulating fluid and the second reservoir and the container can exchange medical liquid from the medical container.
Syringe assembly for a drug delivery device and method of assembly
A syringe assembly for a drug delivery device. The syringe assembly includes a syringe barrel having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis. A needle assembly is operatively coupled to the syringe barrel and includes a needle hub and a needle attached to the needle hub. A flexible connection is disposed between the syringe barrel and the needle hub and forms a fluid pathway between the syringe barrel and the needle. The flexible connection enables the needle assembly to be moveable from a filling position, in which a longitudinal axis of the needle assembly is parallel to a longitudinal axis of the syringe barrel, to an assembled position, in which the longitudinal axis of the needle assembly is not parallel to the longitudinal axis of the syringe barrel.
RESERVOIR STATE MONITORING
A therapeutic substance delivery apparatus includes a housing, a reservoir for holding a therapeutic substance disposed at least partially within the housing, a position sensor having at least three states, a plunger which is slidable within the reservoir, and a plunger-sensor engagement interface coupled to the plunger within the reservoir and extending from within the reservoir to outside of the reservoir. The plunger and the position sensor are arranged such that the plunger-sensor engagement interface causes the position sensor to change states as the plunger slides within the reservoir. Control circuitry identifies a new state indication of the apparatus based on (a) a change in state of the position sensor, or (b) a previous or current state of the apparatus in combination with a threshold amount of time having elapsed without the position sensor changing state. Other applications are also described.
