IMPROVEMENTS IN NEEDLE-FREE DELIVERY
The invention concerns improvements in needle-free devices for delivery of therapeutic and/or prophylactic agents, such as solid dose drugs, including vaccines. The needle-free device disclosed herein comprises novel structural arrangements and modes of actuation and operation, resulting in enhanced functionality and benefits to the user and/or patient.
Injection device and injection solution transferring system
An injection device (10) comprises an injection solution receptacle (30) and a plunger (70) at least a portion of which is slidably received in the injection solution receptacle (30), wherein the plunger (70) is displaceable relative to the injection solution receptacle (30) in a distal direction in order to expel an injection solution contained in the injection solution receptacle (30) from the injection solution receptacle (30). A first plunger stop mechanism (140) is adapted to stop a displacement of the plunger (70) relative to the injection solution receptacle (30) in the distal direction at a first dosing position (P1). A second plunger stop mechanism (140) is adapted to stop a displacement of the plunger (70) relative to the injection solution receptacle (30) from the first dosing position (P1) in the distal direction at a second dosing position (P2), wherein the first and the second dosing position (P2) of the plunger (70) are selected in such a manner that the plunger (70), upon being displaced relative to the injection solution receptacle (30) between the first and the second dosing position (P2) is adapted to expel a desired dose of the injection solution contained in the injection solution receptacle (30) from the injection solution receptacle (30).
SYRINGE BRACKET WITH A SEAL
A syringe pump includes a syringe bracket fixing a syringe in a syringe channel. The syringe bracket is connected to the syringe pump via a tubular bracket arm and can be pulled out of the syringe pump and locked in the pulled-out position by a catch mechanism so as to insert a syringe into the syringe pump, and after the catch mechanism is released, a spring preload on the bracket arm pulls the syringe bracket back to the syringe pump. The retraction of the bracket arm is damped by a motion damper.
Sterile syringe comprising a non-sliding seal
The invention discloses a sterile syringe (100) comprising a barrel (1) having internal surfaces (2), a plunger (3) movable within the barrel, a non-sliding seal (7) between the barrel and the plunger defining a sealed volume (8) and at least one filter (9) allowing only filtered gases to enter the sealed volume such that the syringe maintains its sterility even after several uses. The filters could be positioned on different locations on the syringe like on the non-sliding seal, the barrel, the barrel flange or the plunger handle.
Device activation impact/shock reduction
A drug delivery device includes a container for storing a drug having a longitudinal axis. A plunger rod aligned with the longitudinal axis of the container has a first end and a second end, where the second end is disposed within the container. A stopper is disposed in and movable relative to the container for expelling the drug, and a drive mechanism is operatively coupled to the first end of the plunger rod. The drive mechanism is configured to deliver a drive force to move the plunger rod along the longitudinal axis and through the container. A chamber disposed between a plunger rod and the stopper is adapted to oppose the drive force of the drive mechanism.
FEEDBACK MECHANISMS
A start of medicament delivery notification mechanism is presented where the notification mechanism is positioned within a housing of a medical device and includes a rear cap secured to a distal end of the housing, where the rear cap has a hollow tubular housing extending proximally from a distal end of the rear cap such that the tubular housing is cantilevered within and rotatably fixed relative to the housing and is parallel with a longitudinal axis of the housing. A rotator rotatably is positioned around the tubular housing such that rotator can rotate relative to the tubular housing from a first position to a second position, where the second position coincides with an initiation of a delivery of a dose of medicament. The rotator further has a contact surface that engages with and subsequently disengages from a corresponding contact surface located on the rear cap or on an inside surface of the housing.
TELESCOPING PLUNGER ROD
Devices and methods for use with syringes are disclosed. A plunger rod includes an outer housing having proximal and distal ends and a lumen between the ends, as well as an inner body axially slidable within the lumen between a first and second position. The inner body has a retention member extending therefrom. When the inner body is in the first position, the plunger rod has a first length, and, when the inner body is in the second position, the plunger rod has a second length greater than the first length. When the inner body is in the second position, the inner body is configured to be rotated relative to the outer housing until the retention member is received within the outer housing to preclude the inner body from moving in the axial direction.
Injector device having a braking arrangement
An injector device comprising: an outer housing for receiving a medicament container; and a drive mechanism for dispensing medicament from a medicament container received in the outer housing. The drive mechanism comprises a plunger rod and a displacing member configured to displace a distal end of the plunger rod into said medicament container to dispense said medicament. The device further comprises a brake configured to slow the rate of displacement of the plunger rod under the force of the displacing member.
KEYED CONNECTORS
A set of at least two drug delivery devices includes a first drug delivery device and a second drug delivery device, The first and second drug delivery devices each include a first set of mutual members that are identical, and the first drug delivery device and the second drug delivery device each include a second set of distinguishing members that differ. The first drug delivery device includes a first connection device for attaching a first dispensing unit to the first drug delivery device and the second drug delivery device includes second connection device for attaching a second dispensing unit to the second drug delivery device, the first and second connection devices differ from each other so that the second dispensing unit is not attachable to the first connection device and the first dispensing unit is not attachable to the second connection device.
SYRINGE WITH BRAKE MEANS
A syringe is provided and comprising a barrel having an outlet and a piston movable along the inside of the barrel to take in or expel fluid from the outlet. The syringe comprises brake means for influencing movement of the piston.
