Indwelling luminal devices
The invention comprises an indwelling medical device which is capable of delivering a therapeutic agent evenly along the length of the indwelling portion, including the outer wall, of the device.
MEDICAL DEVICE INSPECTION SYSTEM
A medical device inspection system may include a base, a medical device holder on the base, a fiber scope holder on the base, a moveable roller moveably attached to the base such that it is free to rotate around an axis and move from a first position to a second position along the base, and a feeder coupled with the base for feeding a flexible portion of the fiber scope into a lumen of the medical device. During use, the flexible portion of the fiber scope may extend from the handle, around the moveable roller, and through the feeder to enter an opening in the lumen of the medical device.
LIGHT-DIFFUSING ELEMENT CONFIGURED TO AFFECT THROMBI FORMATION ON INTRAVENOUS CATHETER
Disclosed are embodiments of a method for affecting thrombi formation on an indwelling catheter. The method involves the step of providing an intravenous catheter. The intravenous catheter includes an inner surface and an outer surface, and the intravenous catheter is located within a blood vessel. A light diffusing element is inserted into the intravenous catheter. Light is emitted from the light diffusing element such that the light irradiates the intravenous catheter. The light emitted from the light diffusing element is configured to promote or hinder thrombi formation on the inner surface or outer surface of the intravenous catheter. Also disclosed are an illumination system for affecting thrombi formation on an intravenous catheter as well as an indwelling intravenous catheter system.
Catheter Brush Device
The present invention relates to a novel catheter brush device. The device is designed to offer a more effective method of removing blood clots and debris from the bladder without requiring additional surgery. The device comprises a brush with a blunt end with soft bristles, as well as a loop end that acts as a handle. Users remove the drainage tube from the catheter and insert the brush through the opening to the tip of the catheter. The brush is then moved in a gentle, circular motion to clear any clotting and blockages from the catheter. The brush is then removed, and the drainage tube reattached, such that urine can flow freely through the catheter. If sterility is maintained, process may be repeated as needed.
Guidewire retaining accessory
A guidewire support accessory includes one or more hollow tubular sections, each of the hollow tubular sections including a first end and an opposing second end for individually supporting a plurality of medical guidewires. A connector is disposed at the first end. Each of the one or more hollow tubular sections is sized and configured to receive a medical guidewire maintained in a coiled arrangement. The accessory includes at least one clamp configured to releasably retain a guidewire in the coiled arrangement, as well as at least one wiping or cleaning feature.
DRAINAGE SHUNT DEVICES AND METHODS FOR DRAINING ASCITES FLUID FROM PERITONEAL CAVITIES
A shunt for draining fluid including a first catheter, an electronic pump fluidly coupled to the first catheter, a manual pump fluidly coupled to the electronic pump, a second catheter fluidly coupled to the manual pump. During a drainage operation, the shunt arranged and configured such that a fluid is passively pressure-driven through the shunt, and the electronic pump is arranged to prevent blockages within the shunt by flowing a bolus of the fluid through the shunt. Additionally, the manual pump is arranged to prevent blockages within the shunt by flowing a bolus of the fluid through the shunt in the event that the electronic pump cannot produce a bolus of the fluid.
Systems and Methods for Targeted Thrombolytic Delivery
Devices and methods for restoring patency of a catheter. Devices can include an elongate member configured for insertion through the catheter. Elongate members can facilitate delivery of a chemical agent directly to a catheter blockage and/or facilitate agitation of the chemical agent in close proximity to the blockage. A catheter or catheter system disclosed herein includes a device for removing the blockage. The device for removing a blockage from a catheter can include an elongate member configured for insertion through a catheter lumen, the elongate member defining a proximal end and a distal end, and an agitation actuator coupled with the elongate member adjacent the proximal end, wherein operation of the actuator causes agitation of a fluid adjacent the distal end.
Medical device flushing systems and methods
A distal end portion of an elongate shaft member of a catheter may be inserted into a liquid within a vessel. While the distal end portion of the elongate shaft member is inserted in the liquid in the vessel, a manipulable portion of the catheter may be manipulated within the liquid to remove an undesired fluid therefrom. The liquid may be pressurized to cause the liquid to flow into a lumen of the elongate shaft member from a distal end of the elongate shaft member at least toward a proximal end of the elongate shaft member to facilitate flushing of the undesired fluid from the lumen. The distal end portion of the elongate shaft member of the catheter may be inserted into the liquid within the vessel while at least the elongate shaft member is in a substantially horizontal orientation.
Apparatus for directing light through an inner lumen of a body
An assembly for redirecting light emitted by an end-emitting optical fiber into an inner lumen of a body is provided. According to one implementation, the body includes one or more surfaces disposed on or in the body onto which the light is configured to impinge when the end emitting optical fiber is activated, the one or more surfaces being configured to alter the trajectory of the light so that the light is directed to impinge on a light reflector of a cap removably attached to the body, the light reflector of the cap being configured to redirect the light distally into the inner lumen of the body.
