In various examples, a hub for a medical device includes a hub housing including a passage from a proximal end of the hub housing to a distal end of the hub housing. A valve is disposed within the hub. The valve is configured to allow passage of an insertable device through the valve while inhibiting leakage of fluid from the valve. A cap is engaged to the hub housing. The cap includes an opening therethrough sized and shaped to allow passage of the insertable device through the opening. The opening allows access to the passage of the hub housing. An angled sidewall is disposed within the hub. The angled sidewall is configured to retain and deform the valve into a curved shape.

Catheter assembly having protective sleeve tip

A protective sleeve for a urinary catheter includes a sleeve configured to extend over an outer surface of the urinary catheter shaft from a proximal insertion end of the catheter shaft to a distal end of the catheter shaft. The protective sleeve includes a protective sleeve tip defining the proximal end portion of the sleeve. The sleeve and the protective sleeve tip are of a single unitary construction and the sleeve and protective sleeve tip are formed of the same thin, flexible film. The protective sleeve tips has a first pre-use configuration when a proximal insertion end of the catheter is not within the protective sleeve tip wherein the protective sleeve tip is in a collapsed state, and a second configuration when a proximal insertion end of a urinary catheter is inserted into the protective sleeve tip, in the second configuration the protective sleeve tip being in an extended state that is configured to cover the proximal insertion end of the urinary catheter shaft and the thin, flexible film conforms to and is supported by the proximal insertion end of the urinary catheter for insertion of the protective sleeve tip into the urethral opening.

Catheter strain relief assembly

A catheter assembly includes a catheter shaft having shaft proximal and distal portions. A hub is coupled with the catheter shaft proximate the shaft proximal portion. A graduated strain relief fitting is coupled between the catheter shaft and the hub. The graduated strain relief fitting includes at least a first flexural modulus proximate the hub and a fitting proximal portion. The graduated strain relief fitting includes a second flexural modulus proximate the catheter shaft and a fitting distal portion. The second flexural modulus is less than the first flexural modulus and less than or equal to a catheter shaft flexural modulus. The first and second flexural moduli are modulated with one or more of a taper, flexure joints, fitting frame of the fitting or material of the fitting body.

ERGONOMIC CATHETER HANDLE
20230218861 · 2023-07-13 ·

A handle for maneuvering a catheter, comprises: a handle body having an outer surface and an inner surface, the inner surface defining a tubular passage extending along a longitudinal axis from a proximal end to a distal end of the handle body. The handle includes a coupling mechanism at the proximal end and a strain relief sleeve at the distal end of the handle body. The strain relief sleeve is adapted to irremovably secure a flexible catheter sheath to the handle; and the coupling mechanism is adapted to detachably connect the handle to a patient interface unit (PIU). The handle body is ergonomically sized and shaped for grasping by a single hand of a user, and is configured to linearly engage to and disengage from the PIU via the coupling mechanism. When the handle is attached to the PIU, an imaging core moves linearly inside the tubular passage without bending.

Access device with valve

A splittable sheath includes a splittable sheath body, a splittable sheath hub, and a valve element. The sheath body comprises a generally flexible tubular structure, a proximal end, and a distal end. The sheath body defines a longitudinal axis and is splittable into two halves along a pre-determined line generally parallel to the longitudinal axis. The sheath hub extends from the proximal end of the sheath body and defines a longitudinal axis generally aligned with the longitudinal axis of the sheath body. The sheath body and sheath hub form an inner cavity along their respective longitudinal axes. The valve element includes a resilient plate and a sealing element. The resilient plate includes a distal portion extending radially inwardly from a side of the inner cavity. The sealing element includes a sealing surface and is supported by the resilient plate such that the sealing element is biased toward a position against a second sealing surface on at least one of the splittable sheath body and hub to substantially seal the inner cavity.

Method and apparatus for rectal anaesthesia

A system and method for delivering a medicament including a catheter configured for implantation in different target tissue sites, extending from a proximal end to a distal end, and having a sidewall which defines an internal lumen. The distal end has one or more apertures in the sidewall for the release of the medicament into the target tissue site; the system also comprises a medicament reservoir fluidly communicable with the internal lumen of each catheter, an adhesive member configured to adhere to the skin of the patient around the exit wound and having an opening therein to allow the catheters to pass through the adhesive member and a retaining member configured to be overlaid on the adhesive member and comprising a guide surface configured to receive a length of the two or more catheters and a plurality of retaining portions to retain the catheters against the guide surface.
