Various embodiments disclosed relate to drug-coated balloon catheters for treating, preventing, or reducing the recurrence of a stricture and/or cancer, or for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), in a non-vascular body lumen and methods of using the same. A drug-coated balloon catheter for delivering a therapeutic agent to a target site of a body lumen stricture includes an elongated balloon having a main diameter. The balloon catheter includes a coating layer overlying an exterior surface of the balloon. The coating layer includes one or more water-soluble additives and an initial drug load of a therapeutic agent. In some embodiments, the balloon catheter includes a length-control mechanism which stretches and elongates the balloon when it is in a deflated state, giving the balloon a smaller cross-sectional deflated profile for tracking through the body lumen and for removal after treatment.

Inflatable medical devices

Inflatable medical devices and methods for making and using the same are disclosed. The devices can be medical invasive balloons, such as those used for transcutaneous heart valve implantation, such as balloons used for transcatheter aortic-valve implantation. The balloons can have high strength, fiber-reinforced walls.

CRYOABLATION CATHETER

A cryoablation catheter, comprising a balloon (1) and a delivery catheter (2) passing through the balloon (1). The delivery catheter (2) is provided with a fluid inflow cavity (21) and a fluid outflow cavity (22) therein. The fluid inflow cavity (21) extends into the balloon (1), and a side wall of the fluid inflow cavity (21) is provided with a spray head (211) that injects a liquid into the balloon (1). The spray head (211) has a number of spray holes (2111, 2112) circumferentially arranged on the exterior of the fluid inflow cavity (21). An end of the fluid outflow cavity (22) has a cross section (24) that seals the fluid outflow cavity (22), and a side wall of the fluid outflow cavity (22) is provided with a reflow hole (221) in communication with the balloon (1). A fluid flows from the fluid inflow cavity (21) through the nozzle holes (2111, 2112) into the balloon (1). The nozzle holes (2111, 2112) are evenly distributed outside the fluid inflow cavity (21), so that the interior of the balloon (1) is uniformly filled with the refrigeration fluid, ensuring the uniformity of heat exchange at each part of the balloon (1) in an axial direction. The fluid then flows out from the reflow hole (221). The structural design can effectively improve the heat exchange efficiency of the fluid, and the production and processing processes are relatively simple.

The elongate bodies include fixed-side elongate bodies which are fixed to the outer surface side of the balloon, and top-side elongate bodies which are bent or broken from the fixed-side elongate bodies and are continuous with or independent of the fixed-side elongate bodies.

The present invention is an inflatable balloon which is enclosed by an expandable cover which becomes increasingly porous/permeable during expansion. The balloon is coated or enclosed with a matrix which contains a pharmaceutically active agent. During expansion of the balloon, the pharmaceutically active agent is released or extruded through the expandable cover into a body cavity such as an artery or vein. The present invention also provides for a method of treating a disease or condition by delivering the inflatable balloon to a particular body cavity.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a method for treating at least one of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), prostate cancer, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The method can include delivering, for example, via drug coated balloon catheters, anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative drugs (e.g., rapamycin, paclitaxel, and their analogues) and one or more additives.

Inflatable medical devices

Inflatable medical devices and methods for making and using the same are disclosed. The inflatable medical devices can be medical balloons. The balloons can be configured to have a through-lumen or no through-lumen and a wide variety of geometries. The device can have a high-strength, non-compliant, fiber-reinforced, multi-layered wall.
