An implantable access port including a port housing that defines a fill port cavity and includes a catheter fitting, a filter positioned within the port housing along a delivery flow pathway configured so that fluid injected into the fill port cavity passes through the filter prior to exiting through the catheter fitting, a one-way valve positioned within the port housing along an aspiration flow pathway configured to permit aspirated fluid to flow unfiltered from the catheter fitting to the fill port cavity and prevent injected fluid from flowing unfiltered from the fill port cavity to the catheter fitting, a port cover coupled to the port housing, and a pierceable septum positioned between the fill port cavity and the port cover configured to allow a needle to pierce through the pierceable septum to access the fill port cavity.

IMPLANTABLE DRUG DELIVERY PORT

A drug delivery port including a port housing having an inner sidewall defining a fill port cavity and a fill port washer in direct contact with a perimeter edge of the inner sidewall of the port housing such that an intersection between the washer and the perimeter edge define a plurality of filter channels having a cross-sectional flow area of about 0.001 mm.sup.2 to about 0.5 mm.sup.2 that lie within the fluid pathway of the delivery port. The delivery port also includes a port cover coupled and a pierceable septum compressed between the fill port washer and the port cover configured to allow a needle to pierce through the septum to deliver an injectable fluid to the fill port cavity.

Medical access ports, transfer devices and methods of use thereof

A medical system, comprising an implantable access port including an implantable access port body and at least one implantable access port needle; wherein the at least one needle is concealable inside the access port body in a concealed position and is exposable outside the access port body in an exposed position; wherein the at least one needle is arranged within the access port body to penetrate outwardly through skin of a subject from within the subject when the access port is implanted in the subject; a transfer device coupled to the at least one needle of the access port, the transfer device configured to transfer a fluid to and/or from the access port; and wherein the transfer device is configured to form a closed system with the access port, wherein the transfer device includes a fluid flow passage configured to transfer the fluid to and/or from the access port.

The device presented is designed to cause, in a mode of operation referred to as “normal” mode, a fluid to flow along this fluid path successively through the first cavity, the filter, the second cavity then the flow restrictor. The device is also designed to cause, in a mode of operation referred to as “purge” mode, a fluid to flow along this same fluid path through the filter but in the opposite direction to the normal flow of the fluid (in the normal mode of operation). Thanks to the “purge” mode, the fluid will detach impurities that have become trapped on the filter in order to clean same.

NEEDLELESS CONNECTOR WITH IN-LINE FILTER

Needleless connectors are described herein. A needleless connector includes a housing comprising a cavity and a proximal fluid port in fluid communication with the cavity. The connector further includes a filter support disposed at least partially within the cavity. The filter support can include a distal fluid port in fluid communication with the proximal fluid port. The connector further includes a filter disposed circumferentially around the filter support and between the proximal fluid port and the distal fluid port.

FLUID DELIVERY SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Fluid delivery systems and methods of delivering a therapeutic agent are disclosed that include a subcutaneously implantable port that can be easily and efficiently located through the tissue of a patient. The port includes a body that defines a chamber having an open top, a delivery opening, and a catheter connection portion, and a septum disposed on the body, where the septum includes a lower surface extending over the open top of the chamber and an opposite, upper surface. The port further includes a cap of the port that defines an opening extending therethrough and the cap is configured to be coupled to the body to secure the septum within the port with the opening of the cap providing needle access to the septum. The cap includes a downwardly tapered surface that extends around the opening and is configured to direct a needle towards the upper surface of the septum.
