Apparatus is disclosed for ventilation using an airbag, which may also be operable manually. The apparatus comprises: means providing or penetrable to form an aperture in the airbag; retractable means provided separately from the airbag, for extending in the airbag; fixing means for fixing, by an operator, an end of the retractable means to the airbag via the aperture; actuation means, for repeatedly retracting the retractable means at least partially through the aperture in the airbag to collapse the airbag, and for enabling expansion of the airbag to an expanded state; and connecting means for connecting the actuation means to the airbag and for preventing environment egress of gas from within the airbag between the aperture and the actuation means.

REMOTE CONFIGURATION OF A RESPIRATORY DEVICE

The present technology relates to systems and/or methods for enabling a respiratory device to be configured when a clinician or healthcare professional is remote from the respiratory device. One form provides a method of configuring a respiratory device, the respiratory device comprising a processor configured to control operation of the respiratory device in accordance with a plurality of operating parameters. The method comprises determining a combination of settings for the device from an identifier sent to the device, the identifier corresponding to the combination of settings, and configuring the respiratory device accordingly. Another form provides a method of verifying the configuration of the respiratory device by outputting an identifier corresponding to the combination of settings for the device, and determining the settings from the identifier.

ULTRASOUND CATHETER AND ULTRASOUND CATHETER SYSTEM

An ultrasound catheter and an ultrasound catheter system that can acquire an image of an observation target with high accuracy when inserted into a large inner lumen. An ultrasound catheter includes: an outer sheath having an accommodation lumen; an inner sheath that can move along an axis; a drive shaft that can rotate in the inner sheath and the outer sheath; and a transducer that is disposed in the accommodation lumen and fixed to a distal end of the drive shaft. The outer sheath includes a first bent portion bent and shaped in advance at a predetermined angle on a proximal side of a most distal end of the accommodation lumen, and a first tubular portion and a second tubular portion positioned on a distal side of the first bent portion and on the proximal side of the most distal end of the accommodation lumen.

A circulatory support device includes a flexible cannula having a fluid outlet at a proximal end; and a pump assembly disposed at a distal end of the flexible cannula. The pump assembly includes a pump housing having a fluid inlet defined therein; a motor disposed within a distal end of the housing; and an impeller, driven to rotate by the motor, and configured to push blood toward the fluid outlet.

SYRINGE PUMP AND RELATED METHOD

A syringe pump includes a lead screw, a motor, and a sliding block assembly. The lead screw has threads and the motor is coupled to the lead screw to rotate it. The half-nut housing has a half nut and a barrel cam. The half nut is disposed within the half-nut housing. The half nut has half-nut threads at an end adjacent to the lead screw void. The half nut engages or disengages with the threads of the lead screw. The half nut includes a half-nut cam-follower surface and a half nut slot. The barrel cam is disposed within the half-nut housing and engages with the half-nut cam-follower surface. The barrel cam includes a pin to fit within the half nut slot such that the barrel cam rotates between a first position and a second position to actuate the half nut between the engagement position and the disengagement position, respectively.

Ventilator
