SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SEPARATION OF PLATELETS FROM BLOOD AND RETURN OF MONONUCLEAR CELLS
20230044027 · 2023-02-09 ·

Systems and methods are provided for separating platelets from blood. Prior to blood separation, a volume of blood to be processed, a volume of platelets to be collected, and/or a time required to complete blood draw from a source during a blood separation procedure is determined. Based on that determination, a procedure setpoint is calculated from the completion of the blood draw. Blood is subsequently drawn from a source into a separator in which the blood is separated into a mononuclear cell-containing fraction and a platelet-containing fraction. At least a portion of the platelet-containing fraction is conveyed from the separator, while the volume of the mononuclear cell-containing fraction in the separator increases. The mononuclear cell-containing fraction is conveyed to the source from the separator at the procedure setpoint. The blood draw and separation are then ended.

Systems and methods for manufacturing and safety of an NO.SUB.2.-to-NO reactor cartridge used to deliver NO for inhalation therapy to a patient

The principles and embodiments of the present invention relate to methods and systems for safely providing NO to a recipient for inhalation therapy. There are many potential safety issues that may arise from using a reactor cartridge that converts NO.sub.2 to NO, including exhaustion of consumable reactants of the cartridge reactor. Accordingly, various embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods of determining the remaining useful life of a NO.sub.2-to-NO reactor cartridge and/or a breakthrough of NO.sub.2, and providing an indication of the remaining useful life and/or breakthrough.

Apparatus and method for detecting liquid level in a clear or partially clear container

A trap bowl is provided to accumulate liquid droplets from a filter, as a liquid content. The trap bowl includes a transparent vertical prism. The transparent vertical prism includes a face that forms a vertical transparent surface facing against a content of the section. The face can provide a first angle of total reflection when content of the section is a type of gas, and a second angle of total reflection when the content of the section is the liquid content. A light source may emit a light beam incident on the face at an angle of incidence. The angle of incidence results in reflection of the light beam, striking the light receiver, when the face has the first angle of total reflection, and results in refraction of the light beam, missing the light receiver, when the face has the second angle of total reflection.

BREAST PUMP ASSEMBLY

Systems and methods for pumping milk from a breast, wherein the milk is expressed from the breast under suction and milk is expulsed from the pumping mechanism to a collection container under positive pressure. In one approach, the breast pump assembly includes a breast adapter and a receptacle configured to cup the breast adapter, and the breast adapter is removable from the receptacle.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR FLUID INFUSION, DRAINAGE, AND COLLECTION

Containers for collecting fluid are provided that include a reservoir comprising a plurality of panels enclosing an interior, side panels of the reservoir are movable from an expanded position towards to a compressed position and biased to the expanded position for generating a vacuum within the interior. An elongate housing extends along a top side of the reservoir including a passage extending between proximal and distal ends thereof and communicating with the interior of the reservoir. An elongate member extends through the housing including a distal extension, a proximal extension, and a lumen extending therebetween. One-way valves are coupled to the distal and proximal extensions for permitting fluid flow proximally from the distal extension into the interior of the reservoir via and permitting fluid flow proximally from the proximal extension while preventing fluid flow distally out the distal extension and distally into the proximal extension and lumen.

WOUND THERAPY SYSTEM WITH WOUND VOLUME ESTIMATION
20230001070 · 2023-01-05 ·

A volume of a wound is estimated using a dynamic pressure response measured during instillation of fluid to the wound using a negative pressure wound therapy system. A previously estimated wound volume may be used to detect and prevent overfill of fluid to the wound during future instillation events. For example, real-time pressure measurements may be compared to model data representative of expected pressure at a wound having a volume equal to the previously estimated wound volume, with instillation being stopped if the observed pressure varies from the expected pressure. A comparison of a total volume of fluid instilled to the wound may also be compared to the previously estimated wound volume to prevent overfill. The comparison of wound volume estimated based on an instillation event may also be compared to a wound volume estimated using other methods to provide a higher confidence wound volume estimate.
