OXYGEN TANK WITH IMPROVED OXYGEN STORAGE
A tank for accumulating oxygen enriched air from an oxygen concentration device is disclosed. The oxygen concentration device includes a canister including a nitrogen-adsorbent material. A compressor is coupled to the canister. The compressor compresses air for the canister to produce oxygen enriched air in a swing adsorption process. The tank includes a closed container for collecting oxygen enriched air produced in the canister. An inlet is coupled to the container. An outlet in the container allows a patient to inhale the collected oxygen enriched air. An adsorbent material within the container adsorbs oxygen enriched air added to the tank from the canister.
External Ear Canal Pressure Regulation System
An external ear canal pressure regulation device including a fluid flow generator and an earpiece having a first axial earpiece conduit fluidicly coupled to the fluid flow generator, whereby the earpiece has a compliant earpiece external surface configured to sealably engage an external ear canal as a barrier between an external ear canal pressure and an ambient pressure.
Smoking device
Apparatus and methods are described for use with a portion of plant material that includes at least one active ingredient. A vaporizing unit includes a heating element configured to heat the plant material, and a sensor configured to detect an indication of airflow rate through the vaporizing unit. Control circuitry is configured to receive an indication of the airflow rate through the vaporizing unit, and, in response thereto, to determine a smoking profile that is desired by the user. The control circuitry drives the heating element to vaporize the active ingredient of the plant material by heating the plant material according to the determined smoking profile. The control circuitry dynamically updates the smoking profile in response to changes in airflow rate over the course of a smoking session. Other applications are also described.
THERMALLY CONTROLLED FACE ENGAGING DEVICE
A face engaging device such as a nozzle, facemask, etc., may include a housing including a fluid channel extending through the housing to an opening configured to be placed in fluid communication with the mouth of a user. The housing may include a first surface configured to be placed in contact with the skin of the user and a second surface exposed to the fluid channel. The face engaging device may also include a thermal actuator supported by the housing and including a first heat transfer surface position on the first surface, where the first heat transfer surface is configured to apply a thermal profile to the skin of the user when the opening is placed in fluid communication with the mouth of the user.
Personal Thermal Stability Control
Personal thermal stability control herein provides for personalized temperature regulation dependent upon biometric sensor feedback, sleep stage, and so on, particularly for sleeping users, predicting and preemptively responding to fluctuations indicative of thermal stability, resulting from such things as transitions between sleep stages, hot flashes, night sweats, and general thermal instability. Specifically, in one embodiment, a system herein may comprise: an on-demand cooling system; one or more biometric sensors configured to monitor one or more corresponding indicators of thermal stability of a user; and a controller configured to: a) receive the one or more corresponding indicators of thermal stability of the user; b) predict an onset of a thermal instability of the user based on the one or more corresponding indicators of thermal stability of the user; and c) activate the on-demand cooling system to counteract the predicted onset of a thermal instability of the user.
Differential Air Flow System for Promoting Bottom-Up Freezing of Blood Plasma in Compressed Bags
This disclosure relates to a method and system for fast freezing of a biological product (such as blood plasma) contained in an individual bag or a plurality of bags. This disclosure relates to a method and system for freezing plasma in an individual bag or a plurality of bags, favoring bottom-up ice-growth, by implementing a differential air flow on top and bottom surfaces of a horizontally placed bag or bags filled with plasma. This disclosure relates to a method and a differential air flow system for freezing plasma, wherein the heat transfer coefficient on a bottom of a bag is at least 10 times larger than at a top. This disclosure relates to a differential air flow system and method for freezing plasma, wherein the differential air flow on top and bottom surfaces of a plasma bag is imposed by at least one fan or blower.
Monitoring respiratory pressure therapy
Methods and apparatus provide automated circuit disconnection monitoring such as for a respiratory apparatus or system. Disconnection of a patient circuit, including a patient interface and air delivery circuit, may be detected and a message or alarm activated. In some versions, detecting occurrences of circuit disconnection event(s), such as by a processor, may be based on an instantaneous disconnection parameter as a function of a disconnection setting. The disconnection setting may be determined based on patient circuit type. The instantaneous disconnection parameter may be determined from detected pressure and flow rate, and may be, for example, a conductance value or an impedance value. Disconnection events may be qualified by one or more detected respiratory indicators. In some cases, instantaneous impedance or conductance may be used to assess re-connection of a patient circuit, detection of flow starvation, determine breath shape for triggering and cycling and to detect patient or circuit obstructions.
Impeller and motor assembly
A breathing assistance apparatus has a pressurised gases source featuring a lightweight impeller with a plastic shaft. The impeller is shroudless. The plastic shaft is supported within the stator by a bearing structure. The resilient motor mount couples the stator and the housing and provides compliance and/or damping for the motor.
Modular blood product storage system for temperature-regulated storage of blood products
Modular blood product storage system for temperature-regulated storage of blood products with a temperature regulation unit for temperature regulation of the blood product storage system, a base unit and at least one agitator unit with an upper connection side, a lower connection side, a movable compartment to receive the blood products and a drive for movement of the compartment, wherein the compartment is arranged between the upper connection side and the lower connection side, wherein the upper connection side of the agitator unit is selectively connectable to the temperature regulation unit or a further agitator unit, and wherein the lower connection side of the agitator unit is selectively connectable to the base unit or a further agitator unit.
