METHOD AND DEVICE FOR INTERMITTENTLY TRIGGERING A REFLEX-COORDINATED DEFECATION
20230041626 · 2023-02-09 ·

The invention relates to a method for filling an inflatable catheter balloon of a device for transanally introducing an infusion into the rectum or colon of a patient by means of a filling device, wherein a fill volume or a filling pressure prevailing in the catheter balloon is increased in two or more steps until there occurs a gradual, user-controllable, pneumatically initiated expansion of portions of the bowel wall, thus triggering a coordinated defecation reflex, wherein the timing and intensity of the triggering stimulus can be determined to the greatest possible extent by the user.

A method for performing a medical procedure requiring effective, reliable and foolproof delivery of controlled amounts of a medical grade gas to a patient includes providing a compressed gas cylinder having a weight with medical grade gas sealed therein of at least twelve grams and not greater than fifty grams. The method also includes connecting the compressed gas cylinder to an integrated compressed gas unit including a regulator valve assembly positioned between an outlet port and an inlet port, wherein the regulator valve assembly includes a press button actuator and regulator adjustment dial. A flow control system is secured to the compressed gas unit and the medical grade gas is delivered in precisely controlled amounts by actuating the compressed gas unit and operating the flow control system to deliver the medical grade gas to vasculature of the patient.

CATHETER FOR MONITORING PRESSURE

A catheter insertable into a cavity of a patient for monitoring pressure including a first lumen for drainage from the cavity and an expandable balloon. The balloon has a liquid containing chamber to monitor pressure within the cavity of the patient as pressure on the outer wall of the balloon deforms the balloon and compresses the liquid within the balloon. An exit port provides passage of air from an interior of the balloon to outside the catheter. A membrane has plurality of pores dimensioned to enable passage of air but prevent passage of the liquid therethrough. A pressure sensor communicates with the liquid containing chamber for measuring pressure based on compression of liquid caused by deformation of the expanded balloon.

An aortic perfusion catheter is an apparatus that is used during surgery for acute ascending aortic dissection to reduce postoperative injuries from profound hypothermia, ischemia, and reperfusion. The apparatus may include at least one main cannula, an inflation cannula, a drainage cannula, and a balloon tamponade. The at least one main cannula helps maintain blood perfusion to the body during the procedure to reduce postoperative injuries. The inflation cannula enables the selective inflation and deflation of the balloon tamponade to facilitate the insertion and removal of the balloon tamponade along with the at least one main cannula within the descending thoracic aorta. The balloon tamponade prevents blood flow into the operative area to maintain the operative area clear during the procedure. The drainage cannula enables the drainage of blood that may escape the balloon tamponade as well as other bodily fluids.

A system to be used inside a dialysis unit for dilating obstructed blood vessel, comprises a catheter, a device, a remote-control box, supportive components and connection cables. A catheter comprises an elongated portion, a proximal end and a distal end, extended longitudinally. A distal end of a catheter has a convectively heating tip with a heat generating element and an inflatable balloon. A device has a radiofrequency current generator to supply and control a heating process of a heat generating element of a catheter tip. A remote-control box comprises a valve assembly, a heat activation switch and a balloon inflation switch to facilitate a treatment process.

INFUSION CATHETER WITH A BALLOON HAVING A SINGLE LUMEN AND AN INTERNAL WIRE, AND USES THEREOF
20230211134 · 2023-07-06 ·

Balloon/infusion catheters comprise internal corewires within a single lumen structure in which the corewire can slide relative to the catheter tube within limits, and the balloon is attached to the catheter tube on one end and to the sliding corewire on the other end. The lumen provides fluid to inflate the balloon and to infuse fluid into the vessel proximal to the balloon. The infusion ports can have a polymer valve to limit infusion to lumen pressures at which the balloon is appropriately inflated. The balloon/infusion catheter can have an integral flow meter near its proximal end. Corresponding methods for use of the balloon/infusion catheter are described, such as for the delivery of hydraulic forces when used in conjunction with an aspiration catheter.

An example connector for a balloon catheter assembly according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other possible things, an inlet branch, a first outlet branch in fluid communication with the inlet branch and configured to be connected to a first balloon, a second outlet branch in fluid communication with the inlet branch and configured to be connected to a second balloon, and a valve integrated the first outlet branch. The valve has a first position and a second position. The valve is configured to limit fluid flow through the valve when in the first position. Another example connector for a balloon catheter assembly and a method of inflating a balloon catheter assembly are also disclosed.

Balloon catheter and fluid management system thereof

A method for maintaining a balloon of a balloon catheter at a prescribed pressure of between about 0.2 psi and 1 psi comprises the step of: generating a vacuum within a reservoir defined in a burette that is part of a fluid management system that is configured to controllably inflating and deflating the balloon by circulating balloon fill media along a fluid circuit, wherein generating the vacuum results in formation of a pressure differential along the fluid circuit, thereby allowing the balloon to be maintained at the prescribed pressure between about 0.2 psi and about 1 psi.
