A syringe (200, 400) for use in a medication delivery device (100) comprises a vial. The vial (201, 411) comprises a chamber (206). The chamber is configured to receive a piston or plunger (205, 416). The syringe further comprises a needle attachment point (202), for the attachment of a hypodermic needle (204). The chamber is offset from the needle attachment point.

MEDICAL INJECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD

A fluid dispensing device adapted for intramuscular injection into a living organism is provided. The device has an energy storage arrangement providing energy in at least two bursts. The first burst is provided from a first energy source and is that which is necessary to pierce the skin of the living organism and insert the needle to the injection site. The second burst is provided by a second energy source and is that which is necessary to pump the fluid out of the reservoir and into the living organism. Optionally, the remaining energy is used to retract the needle out of the living organism. Together with a prescribed operating sequence of the device, use of the two sources of energy contained in the device is optimized to provide the at least two bursts of energy.

High precision syringe with removable pump unit

A digital syringe is used with conventional polymer disposable syringe construction to be practical in the medical environment. Errors associated with the larger volumes of the syringes (which exacerbate minor errors in plunger position) and the flexibility and dimensional variations of the polymer plungers are accommodated by direct measurement of the syringe plunger position rather than indirect measurement of motor position and inference of syringe plunger position. This direct measurement eliminates mechanical tolerances (“stack up”) in the motor, gear train, and lead screw on plunger movement, an effect exacerbated by flexibility of the plunger and changes in syringe resistance and medicament viscosity, for example, with different medicaments or when the syringe is refrigerated. The digital syringe may be combined with the motor unit to provide additional versatility.

Device for extracting a fluid from an ampoule

A device for extracting a fluid from an ampoule, comprising a plunger body (2) arranged for enclosing an ampoule (3), and a syringe body (4) movable relative to the plunger body (2). The syringe body (4) comprises a piston member (6) and an outer tubular casing (8) concentrically arranged around the piston member (6). The piston member (6) comprises an insertion end (10), receivable within the plunger body (2) and arranged for insertion in the ampoule (3), an ejection end (12) attached to the outer tubular casing (8), and a lumen (14) extending between the insertion end (10) and the ejection end (12). The plunger body (2) and the syringe body (4) form an actuating arrangement of the device (1) arranged to move the piston member (6) through the ampoule (3) during operation and forcing a fluid from the ampoule (3) through the lumen (14).

SYRINGE WITH BIASING MEMBER

Syringes are described herein. In certain embodiments, a syringe includes a syringe body, a movable plunger, and a biasing member. The syringe body defines a cavity and a port in fluid communication with the cavity. The movable plunger is disposed within the cavity. The plunger and cavity define a volume. The port is in fluid communication with the volume. The biasing member is coupled to the plunger. The biasing member is configured to urge the plunger toward the port to dispense a fluid stored within the volume at a desired rate.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a syringe which is capable of preventing an accident such that a patient inadvertently sticks her/his hand with an injection needle when improperly performing a needle retracting operation. A sleeve (10) is fitted around a syringe barrel (2) so as to be axially movable from an administration position such that the injection needle (5) projects to a distill side to an accommodation position such that the injection needle (5) is accommodated. A coil spring (16) for biasing the sleeve (10) toward the accommodation position is provided between the sleeve (10) and the syringe barrel (2), and is held in a compressed state in a spring holder (17). The spring holder (17) is disposed in association with the syringe barrel (2) so as to release the coil spring by further pushing the syringe barrel (2) to the distal side after completion of the administration of a liquid drug. The sleeve (10) is axially engaged with the syringe barrel (2) so as to be locked at the accommodation position when being moved to the accommodation position by a biasing force of the coil spring (16).

AN AUTO-INJECTOR DEVICE FOR DELIVERING MEDICAMENTS

An auto-injector device for delivering medicaments is disclosed. The auto-injector device includes a syringe assembly having a needle adapted to expel medicaments from the syringe assembly and a barrel adapted to hold the medicaments. The syringe assembly includes a plunger positioned coaxially with respect to the barrel and adapted to reciprocate within the barrel to expel the medicaments from the barrel. Further, the syringe assembly includes a locking member adapted to be engaged with the plunger to hold he plunger in a position with respect to the barrel. The position of the plunger with respect to the barrel is adapted to be adjusted to vary a volume of medicaments to be expelled from the barrel. The position of the plunger is adjusted by engaging the locking member with the plunger at one of a plurality of positions along a length of the plunger.
