SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RESISTANCE-DEPENDENT, SELF-REGULATED MEDICAL PENETRATION

A system for delivering an injection of a fluid into a void within a subject is disclosed. A barrel extends from a first end to a second end and forms a lumen extending from the first end to the second end. A plug and a floating seal are arranged within the lumen. A hollow needle includes a distal end with an opening for fluid to flow from the lumen. The plug, the barrel and the floating seal include material and dimensions selected based on a threshold flowrate for a fluid arranged within the lumen to: overcome a force opposed to a force being applied to the fluid in the lumen to move the floating seal and the hollow needle into a tissue of the subject, and succumb to the opposing force to displace the fluid through the opening into the void.

The invention concerns improvements in needle-free devices for delivery of therapeutic and/or prophylactic agents, such as solid dose drugs, including vaccines. The needle-free device disclosed herein comprises novel structural arrangements and modes of actuation and operation, resulting in enhanced functionality and benefits to the user and/or patient.

Drug Delivery Device with a Drive Mechanism

The present disclosure relates to a drive mechanism which is suitable for an injection device, especially a drug delivery device. The mechanism comprises a housing having a longitudinal axis defined by a compartment for receiving a cartridge, a plunger suitable for acting on a bung of a cartridge retained in the housing, a strained pressure spring arranged between the housing and the plunger, a retaining member coupled to the plunger, and a release member operable between a first state, in which the release member constrains the retaining member to the housing, and a second state, in which the release member is movable relative to the housing.

Dosing Mechanism with Rotational End Stop Mechanism for Terminating Dose Dispense

The present disclosure relates to a dosing mechanism for a drug delivery device for selecting and dispensing a number of user-variable doses of a medicament. The dosing mechanism comprises a housing, a piston rod, and a driving mechanism for rotating the piston rod and/or a movement application component, which is directly engaged with the piston rod, in a dispense rotational direction with respect to the housing for dose dispense. The dosing mechanism further comprises a rotational end stop mechanism for terminating dose dispense with a first engagement means, which is rotationally fixed with respect to the piston rod and/or the movement application component, and a second engagement means, which is prevented from rotation with respect to the housing in the dispense rotational direction at an end of dose dispense. In order to improve the dose delivery accuracy, the second engagement means directly engages the first engagement means. disclosure

Variable dosing syringe

A syringe includes a dosage setter operatively coupled to a plunger rod and comprising a rotatable body that comprises a set of one or more stops for engaging the set of one or more protrusions of the plunger rod depending on at least a rotational position of the set of one or more stops relative to the set of one or more protrusions, wherein a first rotational adjustment associated with the dosage setter is configured to set a first dosage increment by adjusting a relative axial position between the rotatable body and the plunger rod, and a second rotational adjustment associated with the dosage setting assembly is configured to set a second dosage increment that is larger than the first dosage increment by adjusting a relative rotational alignment between the set of one or more stops and the set of one or more protrusions.

Front loaded auto injector for administering a medicament

Disclosed is a method for controlling an auto injector and an auto injector for administering a medicament from a cartridge having a first cartridge end and a second cartridge end and having a cartridge outlet at the first cartridge end, the cartridge comprising a cartridge compartment with a first cartridge subcompartment containing a first medicament component of the medicament and a second cartridge subcompartment containing a second medicament component of the medicament. The auto injector comprises: a housing; a cartridge receiver; a cartridge sensor; a drive module; an orientation sensor; and a processing unit.

A MEDICAL SYRINGE PLUNGER AND A MEDICAL FINGER GRIP
20230128124 · 2023-04-27 ·

A medical syringe plunger and a medical finger grip for a disposal syringe having both a dose accuracy function and a plunger pulling out prevention function are provided. A plunger rod includes a first guide groove for guiding the axial movement by a protrusion of a finger grip which extends toward the center of the hole of the finger grip and moves in it, a second guide groove formed at a position on the plunger rod which is rotated by a predetermined angle in the circumferential direction with respect to the first guide groove for guiding the axial movement, an axial direction movement restriction section formed in the vicinity of the end point of the first guide groove for restricting the protrusion's movement in the axial direction, and a protrusion transition section for enabling the protrusion to transit from the first guide groove to the second guide groove.

Apparatus and methods for medicament delivery. The apparatus may include, and the methods may involve, a delivery device for delivering a target amount of the medicament from a distal end of the device. The device may include a rod for moving a plunger that discharges the medicament from the distal end. The device may avoid or reduce deformation of the plunger during the discharge. The plunger motion may be stopped by detent that interacts with the rod. The apparatus and the methods may provide an operator indication of progress of stages of operation. The device may feature triggers corresponding to stages of medicament displacement from the device, such as pre-delivery stages, including priming.

Cartridge hold-up volume reduction

Drug delivery systems with reduced hold-up volumes are provided. The drug delivery systems include a cartridge configured to hold a liquid drug. A cartridge stopper is positioned in a first portion of the cartridge. A needle guide component is positioned within the cartridge stopper. A needle is positioned within a central opening of the needle guide. A plunger is positioned in a second portion of the cartridge. The plunger includes a fluid path pocket facing and aligned with the central opening of the needle guide component. The plunger is driven toward the cartridge stopper to expel the liquid drug from the cartridge through the needle. An end of the needle can be positioned within the fluid path pocket when the plunger is pushed against the cartridge stopper, ensuring that only a small volume of the liquid drug remains in the cartridge when delivery of the liquid drug is completed.

Incremental syringe

An incremental syringe useful for multiple injections of medications like botulinum toxin is provided. The syringe includes detents on the syringe plunger which provide a tactile feeling, a discrete audible sound or “click,” or preferably both, for every unit of medication aspirated or injected to or from an individual syringe. Hence, there is no need to look at the syringe, or bring it to the eye level, during use thereof. In some embodiments, a second set of detents is included, and in some embodiments a third set of detents is included. Syringe plungers useful for combining with a syringe body to produce such an incremental syringe are also described.
