A syringe system and components thereof are disclosed. The system may include a syringe body having a hollow lumen, a proximal open end, and a distal end. The syringe body may be configured to house a fluid therein. The syringe system may further include a plunger positioned in the hollow lumen of the syringe body, forming a seal with an inner wall of the syringe body. The plunger may include a removable piston having a shaft extending from the distal end towards the proximal open end, a stopper removably connected to a distal portion of the shaft, and at least one coupler attached to the distal portion of the shaft. The stopper may be configured to slidably move within the hollow lumen to facilitate movement of the fluid within the syringe body. The coupler may be configured to facilitate removal and attachment of the stopper from the piston.

A syringe, having a front portion carrying a hollow, axially extending needle, a container, running from said front portion and forming a container rear end portion, a plunger, extending and being movable axially in the container, the needle rear end being in fluid connection with the container and the plunger being arranged to suck liquid, e.g. a liquid comprising insulin, through the needle when drawn away from the needle and to discharge liquid through the needle when pushed towards the needle, the plunger having a piston portion, turned to the needle rear end, and a coupling portion arranged to co-act with the piston portion for moving the piston portion in the container.

A syringe for use with a medical injector system includes a barrel and a semi-rigid hub, the hub having an outer surface adapted to slidingly move within the barrel, and an inner surface having a continous circumferential wall. The hub further includes an annular engaging portion recessed within at least part of the continous circumferential wall forming a groove, at least one radially extendable and retractable retention member disposed at partially within a proximal cylindrical portion of the hub, and the elastometric seal engaged with a seal engaging portion on the hub and slidingly engaged with the barrel of the syringe. The semi-rigid hub and the elastomeric seal are reciprocally slidable within the barrel, and the at least one radially entendable and retractable retention member is configured to releasably engage the groove upon retraction of the plunger to permit the semi-rigid hub to be selectively withdrawn within the barrel.

An injection device (100), including a base (104), a sliding body (116) slidably connected to the base (104), a double-ended needle (120) fixed to the sliding body (116), a biasing member (124) for proximally biasing the sliding body (116) with respect to the base (104), and for retracting the needle (120) into the device (100) subsequent to activation of the device (100), a medicament cartridge (128) for holding a medicament, slidably connected to the sliding body (116), and a stopper (132) slidably disposed within the medicament cartridge (128). The base (104) has a proximal end (108) and a surface (164) disposed at a distal end (112) thereof for contacting a patient's skin. The base (104) also has a first locking mechanism. The sliding body, (116) has a locking feature and a second locking mechanism. The second locking mechanism locks the medicament cartridge (128) relative to the sliding body (116) upon completion of displacement of the medicament cartridge (128) relative to the sliding body (116). The first locking mechanism and the locking feature interact to lock the sliding member (116) relative to the base subsequent to retraction of the needle (120) into the device (100).

A stopper configured to slidably move within the hollow lumen of a syringe to facilitate movement of fluid within the syringe. The stopper includes a base and one or more capture members extending rearwardly from the base. The one or more capture members each include a beveled edge configured to interact with a piston of a fluid injection apparatus, wherein the one or more capture members are radially deflected upon rotation of the stopper relative to the piston to facilitate removal of the stopper from the piston. The stopper is configured for slidable movement within a body of a syringe and forms a fluid tight seal with an inner wall of the body of the syringe. Also disclosed is a plunger which includes the stopper.

A low deadspace syringe having a pivoting protective needle guard on a fixed needle assembly that is permanently attached to the syringe.

An injection device is described. The injection device includes a stopper having a first conductive element, a barrel having a medicament reservoir sealed at a proximal end with the stopper, and a plunger rod having a second conductive element. The plunger rod is coupled with the stopper to cause forward axial movement of the stopper to expel a medicament from the medicament reservoir. The first conductive element and the second conductive element complete an electrical circuit when the plunger rod is coupled to the stopper.

A syringe can comprise a syringe barrel; a syringe plunger; and a syringe seal. The syringe plunger can comprise a plunger body spanning between a plunger proximal end and a plunger distal end, wherein the syringe plunger can be disposed in the syringe barrel such that the plunger proximal end is disposed within the syringe barrel and the plunger distal end is outside the syringe barrel. The syringe seal can comprise and span between a seal first end and a seal second end, wherein the seal first end can be coupled to the syringe barrel and the seal second end can be coupled to the syringe plunger.

An injection device including a barrel having a medicament reservoir therein capable of fluid communication with a needle assembly at a distal end thereof and sealed at a proximal end thereof with a stopper. The injection device further includes a plunger rod having a distal rod end which is couplable with said stopper, wherein, when the plunger rod is coupled to the stopper, forward axial movement of the plunger rod causes forward axial movement of the stopper coupled thereto into the medicament reservoir in order to expel medicament through the needle assembly. Further, the plunger rod can be decoupled from the stopper by applying a rearward axial force on the plunger rod, said rearward axial decoupling force being less than a rearward axial force required to move the stopper rearwardly with respect to the barrel.
