SWITCH
A neuromuscular stimulation device is described having a plastic casing housing a printed circuit board bearing control electronics, with the casing including an external integral flexible portion which is capable of being flexed into the interior of the casing so as to cause an electrically insulative substrate on which is carried an electrically conductive pathway to be pushed into contact with the PCB in order to complete an electrical circuit. Such a switch is relatively inexpensive to produce, as it has few moving parts, can be formed in a usual manufacturing process, and is robust.
Arrays for Longitudinal Delivery of TTFields to a Body
Tumors in portions of a subject's body that have a longitudinal axis (e.g., the torso, head, and arm) can be treated with TTFields by affixing first and second sets of electrodes at respective positions that are longitudinally prior to and subsequent to a target region. An AC voltage with a frequency of 100-500 kHz is applied between these sets of electrodes. This imposes an AC electric field with field lines that run through the target region longitudinally. The field strength is at least 1 V/cm in at least a portion of the target region. In some embodiments, this approach is combined with the application of AC electric fields through the target region in a lateral direction (e.g., front to back and/or side to side) in order to apply AC electric fields with different orientations to the target region.
Patient assurance system and method
In one example, an ambulatory medical device is provided. The ambulatory medical device includes a plurality of subsystems, at least one sensor configured to acquire data descriptive of a patient, a user interface and at least one processor coupled to the at least one sensor and the user interface. The at least one processor is configured to identify subsystem status information descriptive of an operational status of each subsystem of the plurality of subsystems and to provide a device health report for the ambulatory medical device via the user interface, the device health report being based on the operational status of each subsystem.
BIOLOGICAL ELECTRODE AND BIOLOGICAL ELECTRODE-EQUIPPED WEARING TOOL
Provided is a biological electrode and a biological electrode-equipped wearing tool, in which a contact surface having a certain surface area is suitably brought into intimate contact with a living body, and a suitable electrical distribution is obtained. The biological electrode includes: a thin-plate-like or sheet-like wiring substrate having a lead wire portion to be connected with equipment; a plurality of electrode convex portions disposed on a surface of the wiring substrate in a state of being electrically connected with the lead wire portion; and a conductive cloth portion which is superimposed on the wiring substrate through the electrode convex portions. The conductive cloth portion is to be contacted with the surface of a living body, and electrically connected to the living body.
Wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) system reacting to high-amplitude ECG noise
In embodiments a WCD system is worn and/or carried by an ambulatory patient. The WCD system analyzes an ECG signal of the patient, to determine whether or not the patient should be given an electric shock to restart their heart. If so, then the WCD system first gives a preliminary alarm to the patient, asking them to prove they are alive if they are. The WCD system further determines whether the ECG signal contains too much High Amplitude (H-A) noise, which can distort the analysis of the ECG signal. If too much H-A noise is detected for a long time, the WCD system may eventually alert the patient about their activity, so that the ECG noise may be abated. The WCD system may even pause the analysis of the ECG signal, so that there will be no preliminary alarms that could be false until the ECG noise is abated.
NEUROSLEEVE FOR ASSESSMENT OF PATHOLOGICAL TREMORS
A garment is wearable on an anatomical region and includes electrodes contacting the anatomical region when the garment is worn on the anatomical region. An electronic controller is configured to detect electromyography (EMG) signals as a function of anatomical location and time using the electrodes, and identify tremors as a function of anatomical location and time based on the EMG signals.
ARTICLE AND METHOD FOR TREATING DIABETIC PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY
A system for percutaneously applying electrical stimulation to target nerve tissue to treat a patient having peripheral neuropathy includes a percutaneous electrode assembly, a power supply, and a pulse generator electrically coupled to the percutaneous electrode assembly and the power supply, the pulse generator configured to deliver electrical stimulation to the target nerve tissue via the percutaneous electrode assembly at a level that initiates vasodilation of vasculature within or adjacent the target nerve tissue, where the vasculature is responsible for perfusing the target nerve tissue and the electrical stimulation is delivered with a carrier frequency in the range of 25 kHz to 500 kHz.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
The present invention relates to anti-microbial, antiviral, fibers, and fabrics and to devices made from said fabrics. The invention has particular utility in connection with personal protective equipment (PPE’s) such as surgical masks and respirators, and will be described in connection with such utilities, although other utilities are contemplated, including, for example for forming air handling filters for people movers, i.e., automobiles, trucks, buses, trains, ships and planes, as well as for forming filters for air handling equipment for buildings.
SKIN CARE APPARATUS
A skin care device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a substrate; a case for covering surface of the substrate; and at least one galvanic current application device electrically connected to the substrate, in which each of the at least one galvanic current application device includes a contact head that forms a contact surface with respect to a user's skin and is electrically connected to the substrate; and a holder provided between the substrate or the case and the contact head, and in which the holder includes an elastic fixing body elastically fixing the contact surface of the contact head to a position spaced apart from the case by a predetermined length.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR UNATTENDED TREATMENT OF A PATIENT
An unattended approach can increase the reproducibility and safety of the treatment as the chance of over/under treating of a certain area is significantly decreased. On the other hand, unattended treatment of uneven or rugged areas can be challenging in terms of maintaining proper distance or contact with the treated tissue, mostly on areas which tend to differ from patient to patient (e.g. facial area). Delivering energy via a system of active elements embedded in a flexible pad adhesively attached to the skin offers a possible solution. The unattended approach may include delivering of multiple energies to enhance a visual appearance.
