Transcoronary sinus pacing of his bundle
11577075 · 2023-02-14 ·

Systems and methods for cardiac pacing are provided, where a pacing lead is placed at or near the bundle of His. A method for pacing a heart of a patient comprises: introducing a sheath to vasculature of the patient; steering the sheath within a coronary sinus in the heart to lodge a distal end of the sheath to a target location proximal to the bundle of His above a septum separating a left ventricle and a right ventricle of the heart; advancing a pacing lead through a lumen of the sheath to the target location; coupling the pacing lead to cardiac tissue at the target location; removing the sheath; and electrically pacing the bundle of His using the pacing lead.

11576721 · 2023-02-14 · ·

Disclosed herein are systems and methods for locating and identifying nerves innervating the wall of arteries such as the renal artery. The present invention identifies areas on vessel walls that are innervated with nerves; provides indication on whether energy is delivered accurately to a targeted nerve; and provides immediate post-procedural assessment of the effect of energy delivered to the nerve. The methods includes evaluating a change in physiological parameters after energy is delivered to an arterial wall; and determining the type of nerve that the energy was directed to (sympathetic or parasympathetic or none) based on the evaluated results. The system includes at least a device for delivering energy to the wall of blood vessel; sensors for detecting physiological signals from a subject; and indicators to display results obtained using said method. Also provided are catheters for performing the mapping and ablating functions.

SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND APPARATUS FOR EXTERNAL CARDIAC PACING
20230042385 · 2023-02-09 · ·

Systems and methods for cardiac pacing during a procedure are disclosed and may include an external pulse generator (EPG) for connecting to a lead. A remote-control module (RCM) wirelessly connected to the EPG may include user inputs to control the EPG. A central processing unit (CPU) with a memory unit for storing code and a processor for executing the code may be included where the CPU is connected to the EPG and RCM. The code may control the EPG in response to user input from the RCM. The CPU may be disposed in the EPG or the RCM, or an interface module (IM) configured to communicate between an otherwise conventional EPG and the RCM. The executable code may perform a continuity test (CT) routine, a capture check (CC) routine, rapid pacing (RP) routine, and/or a back-up pacing (BP) routine, in response to user input from the RCM.

METHOD FOR TREATING DIABETES AND NONALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE, ASSOCIATED CONDITION OR DISORDER THEREOF, OR SYMPTOMS THEREOF

The present invention provides a method for treating diabetes and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), associated condition or disorder thereof, or symptoms thereof suffered by a subject such as a mammal (e.g. a human patient or a pet), comprising (1) placing one or more electrodes within a target blood vessel of the subject and against the target blood vessel wall, wherein the target blood vessel includes the celiac artery and/or a segment of the abdominal aorta terminated at its junction with the celiac artery; (2) adhering a surface electrode on an external surface such as skin of the subject; and (3) releasing a therapeutically effective amount of radiofrequency energy through the one or more electrodes to nearby tissues, so as to increase the temperature of the nearby tissues and induce a thermal alteration of the nearby tissues.

Implantable medical device for stimulating a human or animal heart employing an automatic choice between different impedance measuring modes

An implantable medical device for stimulating a human/animal heart having a stimulation unit which stimulates the His bundle and a detection unit which detects an electrical signal at the His bundle. The device performs: a) determining a first value of a parameter of a first measuring pulse measured between a first electrode pole and a housing; b) determining a second value of the same parameter of a second measuring pulse measured between the first electrode pole and a second electrode pole; c) comparing the first and second values; d) determining, based on the comparing step, whether the first or second measuring pulses enables a higher available level control range of the analog-to-digital converter; e) measuring an impedance in a unipolar manner between the first electrode pole and the housing or in a bipolar manner between the first electrode pole and the second electrode pole depending on the determining step.

Some aspects relate to systems, devices, and methods of delivering rate responsive pacing therapy. The method includes monitoring activity information related to an activity level of a patient and delivering rate responsive pacing (RRP) to the patient at a pacing rate corresponding to a RRP profile. The RRP profile may be used to generate the pacing rate based on the activity information and may be adjusted based on the monitored activity information.

SYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM RESPONSE TO STIMULATION OF CAROTID BODIES FOR PATIENT STRATIFICATION IN RENAL DENERVATION
20230233135 · 2023-07-27 ·

A system includes a processor circuit in communication with an anatomical measurement device. The anatomical measurement device receives a metric associated with a sympathetic response of a patient. The sympathetic nervous system of the patient is then stimulated. The anatomical measurement device then receives another metric associated with a sympathetic response of the patient while the sympathetic nervous system is stimulated. The processor circuit then provides an output based on the comparison.
