An apparatus and method for depositing a particulate containing composition onto mammalian skin such that when the particles contact the mammalian skin they have a momentum defined by ρvr, which is within the range of about 0.1 kg/ms≦ρvr≦about 12.0 kg/ms. The particles can be in the range of from about 10 nanometers to about 10 micrometers, in size. And the particles may be selected from the group consisting of titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, iron oxide, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate, polycarbonate, polyvinyl chloride, glass, silica and mixtures thereof. The particles are imbedded below the first layer of dead skin cells in the stratum corneum but they do not pass all the way through the stratum corneum into the living cells of the epidermis or dermis layers of the skin.

An ink composition for temporary tattoos which can be removed when desired and the process for producing it. The ink is formulated on the basis of biologically tolerable, natural pigments/dyes and is encapsulated in a carrier made of a material which, upon being disturbed by an external energy, can release the dye in the tissue in order to be absorbed by the body, thereby eliminating the tattoo without a trace.

The present disclosure relates to semi-permanent tattoos, for example, genipin-based ink compositions. In some embodiments, the ink composition comprises: genipin present in an amount of about 10% to about 20% w/w of the composition; a solvent present in an amount of about 65% to about 80% w/w of the composition; and one or more of a thickening agent, humectant, and film-forming agent present in an amount of 0.01% to about 10% w/w of the composition. In some embodiments, the composition further includes a preservative.

A moisturing towelette is impregnated with a liquid formulation that, when applied to the skin, brightens colors of a tattoo disposed beneath the epidermis, while cleaning the tattoo and care for the skin.

The present invention features cosmetic compositions and a method for pigmentations that create realistic and long-wearing freckles on a user's skin. These compositions include advantages such as being applicable to various skin types. Other advantages include resistance to smearing and a more realistic appearance superior to alternative faux freckle solutions. These compositions can also be applied using various apparatuses.

An upconversion nanoparticle includes at least one host selected from LiYF.sub.4, NaY, NaYF.sub.4, NaGdF.sub.4, and CaF.sub.3, at least one sensitizer selected from Sm.sup.3+, Nd.sup.3+, Dy.sup.3+, Ho.sup.3+, and Yb.sup.3+ doped in the at least one host, and at least one activator selected from Er.sup.3+, Ho.sup.3+, Tm.sup.3+, and Eu.sup.3+ doped in the at least one host. The upconversion nanoparticle is designed using a calculation from first principles to absorb light in the near-infrared wavelength range whose stability is ensured. Further, a hyaluronic acid-upconversion nanoparticle conjugate, in which the upconversion nanoparticle as described above is bonded to hyaluronic acid, is provided to be used in various internal sites with a hyaluronic acid receptor, particularly enables targeting, and increases an internal retention period and biocompatibility thereof.

An ink-jet ink composition includes: a solvent; a pigment comprising a first powder, the surface of which, in the solvent, bears a first charge; an ionic polymer having a second charge, which is counter to the first charge; and polyvalent ions having the first charge. The ink composition has a surface tension of 53 mN/m or less.

The present invention provides three embodiments to create and apply a tattoo to a dermal area of a recipient wherein the tattoo is non-permanent. The present invention includes a first embodiment and a second embodiment wherein the tattoo ink is removable via introduction of a solution and/or a solvent. A third embodiment of the present invention provides a method for tattoo ink creation that provides a tattoo ink that will degrade within the aqueous bodily environment over a period of time based on the polymer with which the water soluble dye is created. The first embodiment utilizes an organic dye that contains at least one metal atom. A solution containing a chelating agent is presented to the tattooed area wherein the chelating agent will extract the metal atom resulting in disappearance of the tattoo ink. Another embodiment utilizes wax encapsulated ink to be removed by presentation of a solvent.

The present disclosure also relates to methods for applying an ink to skin as well as methods for increasing the darkness of a semi-permanent tattoo and/or increasing the longevity of a semi-permanent tattoo.
