The present invention generally relates to the field of skin care. More particularly, the invention relates to a cosmetic or therapeutic skin care composition comprising live bacteria of at least one Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes) strain in combination with an excipient that specifically supports their viability during storage and/or their ability to replicate after application to the skin. Preferably, the cosmetic or therapeutic skin care composition comprises bacteria of at least one C. acnes strain selected from the group consisting of D1, A5, C1, C3, H1, H2, H3, K1, K2, K4, K6, K8, K9, L1, and F4. The invention also provides a method for treating or preventing acne by applying the skin care composition of the invention to a skin area in need of treatment. The invention also relates to the use of a skin care composition of the invention for treating or preventing acne.

A hair care composition is disclosed comprising a polyhydroxy fatty acid amide surfactant of general formula (I): wherein R.sup.1 is a C.sub.1-C.sub.4alkyl groups or hydroxy-substituted C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl groups; R.sup.2CO is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated C.sub.3-C.sub.10 acyl group, preferably C.sub.8-C.sub.10 acyl group, an ethoxylated alkyl sulfate anionic surfactant having a formula R.sup.3O(CH.sub.2CH.sub.2O)nSO.sub.3M, wherein R.sup.3 is an alkyl or alkenyl having from 8 to 18 carbon atoms; M is a solubilising cation comprising sodium, potassium, ammonium, substituted ammonium or mixtures thereof; n is the degree of ethoxylation of from 0.5 to 3, and from 0.01 to 10% by weight of an anti-dandruff agent selected from piroctone olamine, azole based anti-fungal agents and mixtures thereof, wherein the weight ratio of the ethoxylated alkyl sulfate anionic surfactant to the polyhydroxy fatty acid amide surfactant ranges from 1:10 to 10:1.

This invention relates to a cosmetic composition, especially one which provides synergistic anti-dandruff efficacy. This is achieved through a judicious combination of anti-dandruff agent piroctone olamine and a willow bark extract. Disclosed is a cosmetic composition comprising: (i) piroctone olamine: (ii) a willow bark extract; and (iii) a cosmetically acceptable carrier, wherein the ratio of the amount of said willow bark extract to that of said piroctone olamine is at least 1:2 parts by weight; wherein said willow bark extract is extracted from salix alba, salix glandulosa, salix purpurea or salix caroliniana.

The present invention is direct to a hair care composition comprising from about 8 to about 17% of one or more surfactants; from about 0.1-0.25% of salicylate salts or acids; from about 0.1-0.25% of benzoate salts or acids wherein there is a weight ratio of about 1:1 to 2.5:1 for the salicylate salts or acids to sodium benzoate salts or acids.
