SELF-BRAKING PULLEY
A self-braking pulley is disclosed for controlling a rate of extraction of a tether coupled with the pulley. The pulley comprises a pulley housing, a spool for receiving a tether, the spool being configured to rotate about a first axis, relative to the pulley housing, and a piston assembly comprising a chamber having a first and second chamber portion which are rotationally locked to the housing. The piston assembly further comprises a fluid disposed within the chamber, a piston which is arranged to move within the chamber along a second axis between the first and second chamber portions and at least one bore formed within the piston for fluidly coupling the first and second chamber portions. The pulley further comprises means for coupling rotational motion of the spool with reciprocating motion of the piston back and forth between the chamber portions, to cause the fluid to transfer between the chamber portions via the at least one bore as the spool rotates.

Line Retraction Device having a Damper Assembly
A line retraction device includes a rotatable drum having a line associated therewith, with the line including a first end directly or indirectly attached to the drum and a second end opposite the first end, and at least one retraction member biasing the drum in a first rotational direction of the drum opposite a second rotational direction of the drum, where the drum is configured to: (i) retract the line when the drum moves in the first rotational direction; and (ii) payout the line when the drum moves in the second rotational direction. The device further including a damper assembly configured to provide rotational resistance to the drum in: (i) the first rotational direction of the drum as the line is being retracted; and (ii) the second rotational direction as the line is being paid out.
Reel braking system
A braking system for a hose or cable reel including a housing configured to fit inside a drum of the reel and to rotate with the drum during use, and a gerotor including inner and outer gears disposed inside the housing, wherein the inner gear is attachable to a shaft of the reel and the outer gear is configured to rotate relative to the inner gear with the housing during use thereby causing hydraulic fluid to be pumped through the gerotor and impede rotation of the drum.
LINE DISPENSING DEVICES
A line dispensing device includes a housing, a rotatable shaft rotatably supported by the housing and defining a rotational axis, and a line drum disposed about the rotational axis and configured to extend and retract a line from the housing. The line dispensing device also includes a retraction assembly disposed about the rotational axis and configured to generate a retraction force and retract the line from the housing, and a braking assembly disposed about the rotational axis and configured to generate a braking force on the line and during extension of the line from the housing.
Tactical rope insertion assist device
Disclosed is a hinged, two-wheeled device for improving the safety of an individual or object descending along a rope from an elevated position. The device includes a two-piece hinged framed held open by a torsion spring. Each part of the frame contains a wheel with a cut out/channel with a knurled surface to increase the friction between the rope and the device and to prevent the device from disengaging during use. The rope is placed between the two wheels and the handle is pulled down, clamping the device around the rope. The two wheels are connected to viscous rotary dampers that slow the speed of the wheels during descent, preventing the user/object from accelerating in a free-fall and controlling the descent rate to a relatively constant, safer speed.

REEL BRAKING SYSTEM
A braking system for a hose or cable reel comprising a housing configured to fit inside a dmm of the reel and to rotate with the drum during use, and a gerotor comprising inner and outer gears disposed inside the housing, wherein the inner gear is attachable to a shaft of the reel and the outer gear is configured to rotate relative to the inner gear with the housing during use thereby causing hydraulic fluid to be pumped through the gerotor and impede rotation of the drum.
