A locking/unlocking system includes an operating member moveable between a locking position and an unlocking position. The locking position blocks the rotation of the mode-selection knob from the second position to the third position, and the unlocking position allows rotation of the mode-selection knob from the second position to the third position.

An air/gas sampling apparatus is used to retrieve, store, and ship an air/gas sample from a high-pressure air/gas source. The air/gas sampling apparatus includes a filter housing having a filter housing inlet segment and a filter housing outlet segment. The filter housing inlet segment has an inlet orifice and defines a flow restrictor passage and is removably connected to the filter housing outlet segment, defining a filter chamber at a flow restrictor passage outlet where the filter chamber holds a filter pad. As the entirety of the air/gas sample flows into the flow restrictor passage and through the filter pad to ensure the quality of the test of the air sample, the flow restrictor passage reduces the air/gas sample flowing to the filter chamber. The filtered air/gas sample is consequently delivered to and stored in a sample bag that may be shipped to a testing facility for analysis.

As oxygen is consumed by the user from within the enclosed breathing environment, the exhaled gases and moisture are conditioned or vented to acceptable levels by additional systems associated with the environment. These additional systems cause an ongoing need to replenish the oxygen within the environment and maintain the required partial pressure of oxygen. Specific to one of a plurality of modes of operation, the system responds to changes in regulated output pressure by delivering a precisely metered periodic bolus volume of oxygen to support a requirement of the environment volume. The bolus is variable based on a plurality of factors to increase and decrease changes in rates of flow required to maintain regulated pressure.
