The description relates to battery safety and more specifically to containing battery fires. One example can include displacement sub-systems configured to physically separate an affected battery pack from other battery packs. Another example can include a 3D deployable fire curtain configured to automatically deploy around a battery pack to limit the spread of fire between battery packs. A further example can include a media reservoir positioned over a battery pack that is configured to hold non-combustible smothering media. A media retainer can be interposed between the battery pack and the media reservoir and configured to automatically release the non-combustible smothering media into the battery pack support structure when the battery pack experiences a fire.

Technologies are described for a smoke baffle assembly and method of installation. The smoke baffle has a longitudinally extending base with an upper leg, a first leg, and a second leg. A first flange extends inward form the first leg and a second flange extends inward from the second leg. A smoke baffle holder holds an upper portion of a smoke baffle and has a first and second outward extending flange. Each of the outward extending flanges and inward extending flanges is configured and disposed for moving the outward extending flanges into the base and above the inward extending flanges and holding the smoke baffle in the base.

The charging-discharging device of the present invention includes a box-type body including two open parts formed at lateral surfaces thereof; charging-discharging terminals disposed on lateral surfaces of the body; a nonflammable blocking means for opening or closing the open parts at the lateral surfaces; an air conditioning line connected to the inside of the body to individually control the temperature of each charging-discharging device; and/or a CO 2 supply line for spraying carbon dioxide inside the body when a fire occurs. It is possible to uniformly control and manage the internal temperature of the charging-discharging device for performing an activation process of a secondary battery, and when a fire occurs, the fire can be immediately and efficiently extinguished and prevented from spreading to the outside.

Vehicle with fire protection apparatus
A vehicle with a partition area for passengers between two sections of the vehicle, wherein a fire protection apparatus is mounted in the ceiling region of the partition area and has a protective curtain that can be transferred from an idle position, in which the partition area is open, into a closed position in case of a fire. The protective curtain has at least two material webs that adjoin one another and partially overlap one another in the closed position, wherein the lower edge of the material webs that points toward the floor of the partition area is spaced apart from the floor in the closed position.
Vehicle with fire protection apparatus
A vehicle with a partition area for passengers between two sections of the vehicle, wherein a fire protection apparatus is mounted in the ceiling region of the partition area and has a protective curtain that can be transferred from an idle position, in which the partition area is open, into a closed position in case of a fire. The protective curtain has at least two material webs that adjoin one another and partially overlap one another in the closed position, wherein the lower edge of the material webs that points toward the floor of the partition area is spaced apart from the floor in the closed position.
