The system includes an internal combustion engine, a CVT with an input shaft and an output shaft, and a pump with an axial flow impeller. In one variation, multiple impeller stages are used and/or several systems are daisy-chained to provide for suitable delivery of water from its source. In another form, the system is carried by an all-terrain vehicle, side-by-side, or the like, to reach remote areas that need to move water to address a hazardous condition.

Mobile fire hydrant apparatus and method of providing water for firefighting

A mobile fire hydrant (MFH) has a substantially planar rectangular base of tubing elements, with an inlet that connects to an ascending portion which has an outlet, generally configured as a fire hydrant outlet. Water or other fire abatement fluid, is pumped from a source to the MFH inlet, which then exits from the outlet in a manner very similar to that of a permanent fire hydrant. A switch mounted on the MFH controls the pump remotely through a pump cable as needed, allowing remote access to water sources at locations beyond 300 feet in distance and 75 in height, depending on pump specifications. This allows ease of water supply for firefighting in remote steep areas with streams or lakes otherwise inaccessible to firefighting equipment.

A fire suppression apparatus for fighting fires from a vehicle configured for flight is disclosed, comprising a foam and water held in separate containers aboard the vehicle that when mixed forms a fire retardant, a pump driven by an electric motor to pressurize the fire retardant, the pump including an air induction valve where air is drawn into a suction end of the pump and pressurized together with the fire retardant, and an aimable boom connected to the pump by a conduit, the boom including a nozzle on a distal end of the boom from which the pressurized fire retardant and air is dispensed toward a target.

Swarm-based firefighting drone and mass aerial drop system and method

Presently disclosed subject matter integrates a method of using thousands of semi-autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles, herein called drones, to deliver vastly superior amounts of fire retardant over substantially larger and variably-shaped drop patterns. Each drone is able to swap its own batteries with freshly charged batteries and each drone is able to refill its container with water or fire retardant. Once launched, a swarm of drones can perform repeated trips from the water/retardant source to the fire without human involvement other than the high-level tasking of where to drop the retardant. Once a general drop destination and drop pattern shape is designated, the swarm can transport retardant to that location, form itself into the desired drop shape, and deploy retardant. The drone body is designed to be modular so different components can be attached with ease and no special training or knowledge required.

High-efficiency method using unmanned aerial vehicles for firefighting

A method of fire-fighting is provided based on unmanned aerial vehicles “UAV(s)” launched from transporter aircrafts to deliver water or fire-retardants or any other fire-fighting materials to a location selected by the fire-fighting personnel. A capability of putting-off high intensity forest fires is provided that stems from the precision and the quantity of material that can be delivered per unit surface per unit time. After releasing the fire-fighting material(s), the UAV reaches a safe altitude from which it flies on autopilot to intercept and then proceed on a pre-programmed route to land per pre-programmed instructions on an airfield from which fire-fighting transporter(s) operate, allowing a high efficiency along the line, from loading the transporter airplanes to maximizing the quantity of material that reach the target, to minimizing the remote-pilot time and up to the recovery system that minimizes the recovery cost and it maximizes UAVs' utilization by a quick turnaround.

A wildfire containment method for containing wildfires in an external environment is disclosed. The method includes providing wildfire containment barrier apparatus (10). The apparatus (10) comprises a plurality of elongate, hollow barrier members (12). Each barrier member (12) defines an interior (18), an inlet arrangement (54), through which, in use, air can enter the interior (18) and an outlet arrangement (56), through which, in use, air can exit from the interior (18). The apparatus (10) is arranged so that each barrier member (12) abuts at least one adjacent barrier member (12). In use, the barrier members (10) are installed vertically in contact with the ground.

FLEXIBLE HEAT BARRIER AND FIRE SHELTER FOR WILDLAND FIREFIGHTERS MADE THEREFROM

A flexible heat barrier is configured to absorb and deflect heat energy and utilizes a multilayer construction wherein each layer provides a specific purpose. An outer layer configured for exposure to a heat flux includes a coating having an intumescent component and an opacifier component. An inner layer includes a foil that may include a high emittance coating to more effectively reflect radiation. A middle layer includes an insulating fabric layer that may include oriented fibers that can effectively polarize radiation and may include a plurality of layers of oriented fibers that are configured at an offset angle to deflect and reduce radiation transmission through the middle layer. A flexible heat barrier may also include a flexible gas barrier that includes a phase change material, such as frits that melt at a predetermined temperature and flow into gaps to reduce the permeability and further block heat flux.

Method of proactively defending combustible property against fire ignition and flame spread in the presence of wild fire
11697041 · 2023-07-11 · ·

A method of proactively defending combustible property against fire ignition and flame spread in the presence of wild fire. The method involves establishing wireless communication between a GPS-tracking anti-fire (AF) chemical liquid spraying system, and a wireless communication network supporting a network database. The GPS-tracking anti-fire chemical liquid spraying system is used to spray an environmentally-clean anti-fire chemical liquid over the exterior surfaces of a GPS-specified combustible parcel of property, and generating a GPS-coordinate and time/date stamped data records pertaining to the application of the environmentally-clean anti-fire chemical liquid spray over the exterior surfaces of the GPS-specified combustible parcel of property. The GPS-coordinate and time/date stamped data records are transmitted over the wireless communication network for storage in the network database. A computing system is used to access the GPS-coordinate and time/date stamped data records from the network database, so as to verify that the GPS-specified parcel of property has been fire-protected on particular date by virtue of the GPS-specified property being sprayed with the environmentally-clean anti-fire chemical liquid so as to proactively inhibit fire ignition and flame spread in the presence of wild fire.
