Asbestos waste destruction and valorization method
A method for destructing and valorizing an asbestos waste including the steps of: determining the asbestos mineralogical group contained in the waste, performing a treatment on the waste which includes of: an acid treatment when the waste comprises only a chrysotile, a base treatment when the waste comprises only an amphibole, the acid treatment followed by the base treatment when the asbestos waste includes a mixture of a chrysotile and an amphibole, and valorizing at least one of the products obtained on completion of the performing of the treatment. An embodiment also concerns a treatment of a chrysotile waste through an acid treatment followed by a thermal treatment.
Method and system for neutralizing asbestos
A system for asbestos neutralization, that includes a neutralization unit having a module configured for sorting of asbestos waste, an asbestos waste grinder; a concentrated sulfuric acid tank, a vat containing a hot diluted acid solution, for which temperature is between 70° C. and 100° C., in which grinded asbestos waste containing asbestos is dipped, the solution is configured for neutralizing asbestos contained in the grinded asbestos waste, a filtration unit to separate, at the end of the neutralization reaction, a solid inert waste from a liquid phase of the diluted acid solution, a regeneration unit for the diluted acid solution, which adjusts the hydrogen potential of the extracted liquid phase by adding concentrated sulfuric acid from the tank, and means for transferring the regenerated solution into the vat.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR NEUTRALIZING ASBESTOS
The invention relates to a system for neutralizing asbestos, said system comprising a mobile neutralization unit (200) comprising: an asbestos waste sorting module (225), an asbestos grinder (255) and a hot acid bath (250) for rendering asbestos inert.
Preferably, the asbestos waste sorting module comprises: a window with glove boxes; and a conveyor for transporting the asbestos waste in front of the window.
In embodiments, the system comprises a means for containing the atmosphere within the mobile neutralization unit and/or the hot acid bath (250) of the mobile neutralization unit (200) comprises sulfuric acid.
METHOD OF ASBESTOS DETOXIFICATION
Provided is a method of asbestos detoxification including: preparing asbestos which is a treatment target for detoxification and carbon dioxide; and pressing the asbestos and the carbon dioxide with a pressure of 1 to 5 GPa and treating the asbestos and the carbon dioxide at a temperature of 100 to 250° C., wherein since the asbestos is not subjected to chemical pre-treatment, as compared to the existing technologies in which the chemical pre-treatment is necessary, treatment cost may be reduced, and another concern for environmental contamination may be prevented in advance, and accordingly, the asbestos is appropriate for recycling through detoxification as well as waste treatment.
Method and stationary or movable device for neutralizing and recycling asbestos waste
An asbestos waste neutralization device, that includes an acid tank and a vat containing a diluted acid solution, in which waste containing asbestos is dipped, the diluted acid solution neutralizing the waste containing asbestos during a neutralization reaction. The device further includes a filtration unit to separate, at the end of the neutralization reaction, solid inert waste from a liquid phase of the acid solution, and a regeneration unit for the liquid phase of the acid solution, which adjusts the hydrogen potential of the liquid phase of the acid solution by adding concentrated acid contained in the acid tank. In addition, the device includes an attenuation sensor for regenerated liquid phase of the acid solution from the regeneration unit, and a selective precipitation unit for the regenerated liquid phase of the acid solution, depending on the degree of attenuation the attenuation sensor senses.
Abatement of asbestos using fluorinated metal compounds
The disclosed subject matter relates to a method of treating of asbestos or asbestos-containing material, comprising applying to the asbestos or asbestos-containing material a composition including a treatment compound comprising at least one of hexafluoro titanium di-ammonium, potassium hexafluoro zirconate. ammonium hexafluoro phosphate. ammonium hexafluoro stannate, ammonium hexafluoro germanate, ammonium tetrafluoro borate or ammonium heptafluoro tantalite; and a fluorine scavenger compound.
Process for the destruction of matrix material by cavitation and acid-based chemical reaction
An accelerated process for the complete destruction of a matrix material, such as a matrix material including cement and/or asbestos-containing materials (ACMs), is disclosed. The process comprises forming a slurry or suspension by combining the matrix material with an acid solution (including, for instance, acid waste, which can also be neutralized by the process), causing acid-based chemical reactions in the slurry that cause the destruction of the matrix material. Simultaneously to the chemical reactions, the slurry or suspension is subjected to cavitation, which synergistically cooperates with the chemical reactions to accelerate matrix material destruction. The matrix material can be ground and polarized prior to being submerged in the acid solution to form the slurry. The slurry can be subjected to hydrothermal treatment. Inert secondary raw materials (SRMs) that are non-hazardous to the environment and human health can be obtained from the process.
Method for detoxifying asbestos
The method for detoxifying asbestos disclosed here includes: preparing an asbestos-containing substance that contains at least one type of asbestos; preparing an asbestos treatment agent that contains a mineral acid, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and a fluoride; and bringing the asbestos-containing substance into contact with the asbestos treatment agent so as to detoxify asbestos in the asbestos-containing substance. Due to this configuration, asbestos in the asbestos-containing substance can be favorably detoxified.
