Basketball rim assemblies

Basketball goals may incorporate folding rim assemblies which can be packaged and transported pre-mounted to certain backboard assemblies. Alternately, folding rim assemblies can be sold separately or packaged with a backboard for on-site mounting. Some basketball rim assembles may incorporate a break-away mechanism using a leaf spring. The leaf spring biases the rim bracket and resiliently resists downward pivotal movement of the rim bracket and rim. When the rim is rotated downward under an applied force, the leaf spring is flexed, biasing the rim to return to a static playing position when the force is removed.

Breakaway basketball rim

A breakaway basketball rim, includes a base plate; a rim; and a collapsible assembly to which the base plate and the rim are affixed. The collapsible assembly further includes: a control subassembly affixed to the base plate and the rim; and a bearing subassembly horizontally disposed between the control subassembly and the rim.

STOWABLE BASKETBALL RIM

A basketball hoop assembly can include a rim bracket pivotally coupled with a base bracket. An arcuate slot can be defined in the rim bracket and have an upper seat and a lower seat. A biasing member may be arranged to bias the rim bracket upward. A latch member may be positionable in the lower seat of the arcuate slot to prevent upward rotation of the rim bracket. This may position the rim in a play position. The rim bracket may be rotatable downward to move the upper seat of the slot toward the latch member (e.g., which may correspond to movement toward a break-away position, such as in response to a slam-dunk). The latch member can be retractable from the slot to permit upward rotation of the rim bracket (e.g., which may correspond to the biasing member moving the rim to a stowed position).

UNIVERSAL TRAMPOLINE BACKBOARD MOUNT

A universal trampoline backboard mount has a backboard. The backboard includes a hoop connection configured for receiving a basketball hoop. A right post has a right post upper connector and a right post lower connector. A right upper line connects to the right post upper connector. The right upper line connects to the backboard. A right lower line connects to the right post lower connector. The right lower line connects to the backboard. The right lower line is mounted below the right upper line. A right enclosure pole adapter connects the right post to an upper end of a right enclosure pole. A left post has a left post upper connector and a left post lower connector. A left upper line connects to the left post upper connector and the right side is symmetrical to the left side.

BASKETBALL SYSTEM SHAKE REDUCTION SYSTEM
20230310960 · 2023-10-05 · ·

A device to assist a basketball assembly in returning to a static state (i.e., a device to reduce vibrations) after the basketball assembly has been impacted by a basketball or a player. The device includes a weight (i.e., a mass) atop a rubber/urethane rod. The device is configured to allow the weight to oscillate in the plane of the force of the impact. Simultaneously, the rubber/urethane rod absorbs the vibrational energy of the impact. The combination of the weight and the rod assist the basketball assembly to return to a static position more quickly.

Systems and methods for monitoring basketball shots

Methods and apparatuses related to monitoring basketballs are described. In particular, a system for monitoring basketballs may include at least one non-intrusive sensor for sensing motion of a basketball during a missed basketball shot as the basketball travels along a rebound flight path from a basketball goal. The system may also include at least one processor configured to i) generate, based on the sensed motion, trajectory parameters that characterize one or more states of the basketball along the rebound flight path and ii) generate feedback information using the trajectory parameters. The system may further include at least one feedback output mechanism for providing the feedback information to a user.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ASSISTING CHILDREN IN LEARNING AND IMPROVING UPON AIM IN BASKETBALL AND OTHER SPORTS ACTIVITIES

A system and method are disclosed for assisting children in learning and improving upon aim in basketball and other sports. The system is adapted for use with a basketball rim secured to a post or a mount, the basketball rim having a recessed portion. The system includes a retainer ring for insertion within or securing to the recess in the basketball rim; and one or more targets secured to the retainer ring, each target comprising a head portion connected to a stem. The target may be a traditional bullseye, a cartoon character, a letter, a number, among many other examples. In use, a child aims for the target, which is positioned just above the basketball rim, as opposed to the rim itself. In so doing, the child positions the basketball for a successful basket and not a rebound off the rim. The system also is configurable for other youth sports, including soccer and baseball as examples.
