Golf Ball Having Dimples With Concentric Or Non-Concentric Grooves
The present invention is directed to golf balls having improved aerodynamic performance due, at least in part, to the alteration of the dimple surfaces. In particular, the present invention relates to a golf ball that includes at least a portion of its dimples having circular perimeters and dimple profiles having a concentric groove or a non-concentric groove on the surface of the dimple. The golf ball dimples of the present invention provide golf ball surfaces having unique appearances, while maintaining ideal aerodynamic characteristics.
Golf ball having comma-shaped dimples
In a golf ball including dimples having coma shapes, the dimples are arranged such that one comma shaped dimple replaces a circular dimple, two or more comma shaped dimples of different sizes replace one circular dimple, comma shaped dimples having different shapes are arranged in a mixed type arrangement, circular dimples and comma shaped dimples are arranged in a mixed type arrangement, or a discontinuous annular dimple is added to the comma shaped dimples. Thus, a disadvantage of a large circular dimple may be removed and simultaneously a golf ball with stable flight capability and a long flight distance may be provided.

GOLF BALL COMPRISING A LIGHTWEIGHT CORE
The presently disclosed subject matter is directed to a golf ball providing improve play characteristics. The disclosed golf ball includes an outer cover comprising a plurality of divots. The disclosed golf ball further includes a central core comprising one or more lightweight materials, such as aerogel. The combination of the lightweight core and the unique divots enable the golf ball to go farther and straighter when hit by the golfer, thereby providing increased performance.

GOLF BALL
A golf ball has a plurality of dimples on a surface thereof. Each dimple has a center portion and an edge portion. The center portion has a bowl shape. The edge portion has a ring shape and is smoothly continuous with the center portion. A cross-sectional shape of the edge portion is a curved line that is convex outward in a radial direction of the golf ball. A sum Vc of volumes of the center portions and a sum Vd of volumes of the dimples satisfy the following mathematical formula: (VdVc)/Vc2.15. A ratio of a number of the dimples, the center portion of each dimple having a circular contour and the edge portion of each dimple having a non-circular contour, to a total number of the dimples, is not less than 50%.
GOLF BALL
A golf ball 2 has a plurality of dimples 10 on a surface thereof. Each dimple 10 has a center portion 16 and an edge portion 18. The center portion 16 has a bowl shape. The edge portion 18 has a ring shape. The edge portion 18 is smoothly continuous with the center portion 16. A cross-sectional shape of the edge portion 18 is a curved line that is convex outward in a radial direction of the golf ball 2. A ratio P1 of a number N1 of the dimples each having an edge portion 18 that is adjacent to another edge portion 18 such that the edge portion 18 shares a boundary line with the other edge portion 18, to a total number N of the dimples, is not less than 50%.
Golf ball aerodynamic configuration
The present invention relates to golf balls, specifically to a golf ball comprising an aerodynamic pattern having novel shaped dimple structures which reduce the variation in airflow turning angle thereby improving the golf ball's flight performance. The dimple structures have a conical shaped base with a dimple in the center and reduced or no flat land areas between the dimples.
