A golf ball is provided which suppresses twisting due to external forces while maintaining sufficient deflection at the time of impact, reduces the spin rate without lowering ball rebound, and is thus able to effectively increase the distance traveled by the ball, particularly on shots with a driver. In the golf ball, which includes a core and a cover, the core has a core body made of a first polybutadiene rubber and having a surface with a plurality of groves or holes thereon, which grooves or holes are filled with a second polybutadiene rubber of a differing composition from the first polybutadiene rubber. The polybutadiene rubber-filled groove portions or hole portions have a higher surface hardness than the core body.

METHODS FOR MAKING GOLF BALL COMPONENTS USING THREE-DIMENSIONAL ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS

Methods for making golf balls and golf ball components using three-dimensional (3D) additive manufacturing systems are provided. The golf ball includes at least one three-dimensional piece. Preferably, a continuous liquid interface printing method is used to make the three-dimensional structure. Ultraviolet (UV)-light polymerizable materials are used in the method. The method may be used to make single-piece or multi-piece balls. For example, the ball may include an inner core produced by the liquid interface printing method. An outer core layer may be disposed about the inner core, and a cover comprising inner and outer cover layers may encapsulate the core assembly to form the finished golf ball. The outer core and cover layers may be made using conventional molding technologies or methods of this invention.

Golf ball with through-hole(s) incorporating hollow air pocket(s) to produce thinner outer wall facilitating more speed and responsiveness off of the golf club's face at impact is disclosed. A thin outer wall is desirable in golf ball design. A wall that is too thick inhibits rebound and promotes fracturing. A thinner wall with structural supports allows for the outer wall to be thinned while producing an internal structure that promotes rebound and not structural failure. This volume of material formed into the volume to help resist deformation of the outer shell. The internal structure between the outer shell and inner axial shaft can be a honeycomb-like pattern or concentric rings to create more structure, less air volume and faster response. These smaller compartments of air will create more rebound because of the additional force of the more responsive inner structure providing a spring effect as well.

Multi-piece golf balls having a solid core and cover are provided. The ball contains a small, heavy inner core and surrounding outer core layer. The inner core preferably contains metal powder such as copper, steel, brass, tungsten, titanium, nickel, iron, tin, and bronze particles dispersed in a thermoset or thermoplastic polymeric matrix. For example, a polybutadiene rubber matrix may be used. In one preferred embodiment, the inner core contains elemental iron powder. Preferably, the particles have a weight average size in the range of about 10 μm to about 450 μm. In one embodiment, the outer surface of the inner core has a structure with projecting members. For example, the outer surface may contain multiple projecting ribs with gaps located between the ribs. The ball includes a cover surrounding the core structure. The cover may be multi-layered.

The invention discloses is a method of manufacturing a golf ball that reduces the chances of a hook or slice by canceling out the horizontal force of the golf club's impact. The golf ball has a shell layer, a core layer, and at least two inner balls symmetrically disposed between the ball shell layer and the core layer. The golf ball takes the USGA (United States Golf Association)'s regulations into consideration.

Golf ball comprising a core and a cover, wherein the core includes between 2 and 20 smaller spheres that are surrounded by a second core composition having at least one different physical property than the composition(s) forming the smaller spheres. The smaller spheres can be entirely surrounded by the second core composition; or, at least two smaller adjacent spheres may each be partially surrounded by the second core composition while also being in partial contact with each other.

Golf ball

A golf ball including at least a layer of ball shell, at least a layer of ball core, and an antenna layer is provided. The ball core is provided in the ball shell. The antenna layer is inserted between the ball shell and the ball core or provided on an outer side of the ball shell. A material of the antenna layer includes a conductive material having fluidity or ductility that auto-recovers the shape and does not break after a hit.

GOLF BALLS HAVING A HOLLOW CORE AND INTERNAL SKELETAL STRUCTURE

The present invention generally relates to golf balls having an internal skeletal structure that can be self-supporting. The golf ball preferably contains a spherical hollow inner core that is gas or liquid-filled. The ball further comprises an outer shell skeletal structure having a spherical shape and containing apertures that form hollow compartments. In one version, the skeletal structure supports itself and the space inside and around the skeletal structure is hollow. In another embodiment, the space is solid, for example, it may be foam-filled. In yet another version, the hollow space is filled with liquid. Multi-piece golf balls having outer cores, inner covers, and intermediate layers can be made.
