The system has ball supports arranged in a football field, a central control unit and a portable electronic device. Each ball support has presence sensors for detecting a football in a supporting base and data processing means for wirelessly communicating information from the presence sensors to the central control unit. The central control unit monitors the presence of footballs in each ball support and repeatedly sends, wirelessly, the results from the monitoring to the portable electronic device, which graphically shows on a screen the presence or absence of footballs in the corresponding ball supports.

The carrier may store sports balls in a substantially planar array that is one sports ball thick, and the width of the carrier may taper along its length generally simulating a racket form factor. The present invention allows a single coach to control a number of ball feeds remotely and independently. Thereby allowing a single coach to train a number of athletes at one time. Further, the training experience is improved as the coach is free to control the ball feeds remotely, placing the coach in close proximity to an athlete. The close proximity allowing improved communication, greater observation, and allows for hands on training and demonstration.
