Golf club head
Disclosed herein is an iron-type golf club head that comprises a body, made of a first material having a first density. The iron-type golf club head also comprises a weight located within the internal cavity. The iron-type golf club head further comprises a filler material that has a density no less than 0.21 g/cc. The filler material has a mass no less than 2.5 grams and no more than 8 grams. The internal cavity has an internal cavity volume ranging between 5 cc to 20 cc. A ratio of the internal cavity volume to external club head volume ranges between 0.14 and 0.385. The internal cavity has a minimum front-to-back depth above a midplane of the golf club head of no less than 1.4 mm and a maximum front-to-back depth of the internal cavity above the midplane of the golf club head is no more than 13 mm.
Club heads having reinforced club head faces and related methods
Some embodiments include club heads having reinforced club head faces. In one example, the club face comprises a reinforcement element such as a looped rib positioned on a rear surface of the club face to provide reinforcement. The club head further comprises an undercut that extends along the entire perimeter of the club face to provide increased club face bending. The combination of the reinforcement element and the undercut reinforces the club head while permitting the club face to bend. Other embodiments of related club heads and methods are also disclosed.
GOLF CLUB HEADS WITH ENERGY STORAGE CHARACTERISTICS
Embodiments of golf club heads with energy storage characteristics are presented herein. In some embodiments, a golf club head comprises a body comprising a strikeface, a heel region, a toe region opposite the heel region, a sole, a crown, and an internal radius transition from the strikeface to at least one of the sole or the crown. In many embodiments, the internal radius transition region is not visible from an exterior of the golf club head and comprises a first tier, a second tier and a tier transition region between the first tier and the second tier.
MULTI-MATERIAL IRON GOLF CLUB HEAD
Described herein is a tour iron having a golf club head with a faceplate, a body, and an insert. A sole, top rail, rear, and the faceplate enclose a cavity within the body. The cavity can house the insert. The insert can comprise a low-density material, allowing weight to be concentrated around the peripheral edge of the golf club head. The insert can further comprise multiple materials to improve sound and feel. The rear of the golf club head has an inflection seam running from the heel to the toe. The golf club head has an upper portion, above the inflection seam and a lower portion below the inflection seam. The lower portion can have a depth greater that the upper portion depth. The faceplate, body, and insert can be formed of different materials having different densities. The golf club head has a comparatively high moment of inertia and a low center of gravity. Embodiments of golf club heads, golf clubs, and methods to manufacture golf club heads and golf clubs are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head includes a body portion having a center cavity portion, a toe-side cavity portion, a heel-side cavity portion, a first port on the body portion connected to the toe-side cavity portion, a second port on the body portion connected to the heel-side cavity portion, a first filler material in the center cavity portion, and a second filler material in the toe-side cavity portion and the heel-side cavity portion. The toe-side cavity portion is at least partially filled with the second filler material from the first port or the second port, and heel-side cavity portion is at least partially filled with the second filler material from the first port or second port. Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads may include a golf club head having a body portion, a first mass portion, and a second mass portion. The first mass portion has a first mass portion first end and a first mass portion second end such that a distance between the first mass portion first end and the first mass portion second end defines a first mass portion dimension. The second mass portion includes a second mass portion first end and a second mass portion second end such that a distance between the second mass portion first end and the second mass portion second end defines a second mass portion dimension. The second mass portion dimension may be substantially greater than the first mass portion dimension, and a total mass of the second mass portion may be greater than or equal to three times a total mass of the first mass portion. Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head may include a body portion having an interior cavity, a front portion, a back portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a sole portion, and a top portion. A face portion is attached to the front portion to enclose the interior cavity. The golf club head may further include a port on the body portion that is connected to the interior cavity. A first mass portion may be coupled to the body portion such that the port is configured to receive the first mass portion to close the port. A second mass portion may be coupled to the body portion and include a different material than a material of the first mass portion. The maximum width of the interior cavity may be below a horizontal midplane of the body portion and above the port. The interior cavity may be at least partially filled with a filler material from the port. The interior cavity may at least partially extend over the port at a location of the maximum width. In one example, a golf club head includes a body portion with an interior cavity, a face portion, a first port, and a second port connected to the interior cavity. The second port includes first and second openings, a second-port first portion, and a second-port second portion. The second-port first portion extends from the first opening to the second opening, and the second-port second portion extends from the second opening to the interior cavity. A portion of the interior cavity below a horizontal midplane of the body portion and between the second port and a heel portion edge of the body portion is closer to an outer surface of the back wall portion than the second opening of the second port.
